Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Transmission Engineer to join the Energy team in Mississauga.The global energy transition is upon us. Join our team today and help make a difference!As the successful candidate, you will:
  • Design and engineering of high voltage overhead transmission lines from conceptual design through to construction. Design activities include route selections, structure design and spotting, electrical studies, preparation of functional specifications for design, material and construction and coordinating of civil and structural designs of transmission lines.
  • Preparing cost and budget estimates and feasibility studies.
  • Preparing work methodologies, execution plans and schedules.
  • Support for risk assessments and resolution of constructability issues.
  • Preparing proposals for engineering of transmission line projects.
  • Delivering transmission line design projects in accordance with project scope, schedule, budget and procedures.
  • Resolving overall design/project execution issues, as required.
  • Interfacing with clients, peers and contractors.
  • Coordinating with various disciplines.
  • Perform field reviews during construction.
  • Ability to take on a project engineer and/or project manager role as required.
You bring to the role:
  • Professional Engineer registered with PEO (or equivalent), or the ability to obtain registration.
  • 5 to 10 years transmission lines design experience.
  • Strong proficiency using PLS software suite: PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE and PLS-TOWER.
  • Experience in electrical calculations and studies such as conductor ampacities, lightning performance, grounding design, EMF, Corona, AI, RI.
  • Familiar with structural and civil design aspects for transmission lines.
  • Familiar with applicable codes, standards and regulations applicable to transmission line design in Canada and the United States.
  • Experience using GIS software packages like ArcGIS is an asset.
  • Experience in field construction is an asset.
