Job Description:Our Telecommunications group is currently looking to add a Field Technician / Lineperson to our team, based in Sherwood Park, AB.Reporting to the Project Manager, we are seeking an experienced field resource to assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of aerial and underground telecommunications infrastructure. This includes placing and removing poles, strand, guy wires, conduit, and telecom cable, while ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to company and customer standards.Duties and Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, and repair aerial and underground telecom systems
  • Set poles and anchors, install guy wires, and perform line transfers
  • Place and lash fiber optic and copper cable
  • Operate equipment such as bucket trucks, digger derricks, winches, and other line tools
  • Read and interpret utility drawings, staking sheets, and locates
  • Perform troubleshooting and repairs on damaged telecom infrastructure
  • Work safely around energized powerlines, traffic, and existing utilities
  • Complete daily paperwork, hazard assessments, and job reports
  • Ensure work is performed in compliance with company, customer, and safety standards
  • Assist with emergency restoration and outage response when required
Requirements:
  • Experience in telecom line construction or utility construction
  • Proven Knowledge of aerial telecom construction practices and safe work procedures
  • Ability to climb poles and comfortable working at heights and in confined or roadside environments
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to lift heavy materials and equipment up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to climb, bend, kneel, and work in physically demanding conditions
Preferred Skills / Qualifications
  • Experience operating line equipment and trucks
  • Valid Class 1 or 3 driver's license with air brakes
  • Understanding of fiber and copper telecom systems
