  • Support Medical Imaging Teams throughout Vancouver Coastal Health that requires regular travel between all sites including rural sites.
  • Work in a team-based environment and is accountable for the development, implementation, and maintenance of practice standards for diagnostic medical sonography (DMS) within VCH Medical Imaging Services for all MI sites.
  • Provide regional leadership, direction and guidance on practice activities and advancing practice, research, and education by reviewing and implementing consistent practice standards and goals and objectives in conjunction with designated management and other team members.
  • Lead the development and standardization of modality-specific policies and procedures, quality assurance, continuing education and training programs.
QualificationsEducation & Experience
  • Certification with Sonography Canada or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
  • Completion of a recognized diagnostic medical sonography specialty program, plus a minimum of seven (7) years' recent, related experience, including three (3) years' leadership experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Valid BC Driver’s license and access a personal vehicle for business-related purposes.
Knowledge & Abilities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Medical Imaging theory and practice within a client and family centred care model.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the standards of practice and guidelines for Medical Imaging practitioners established by Sonography Canada and/or other relevant national professional associations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based practice related to designated modality.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of safety requirements related to designated modality.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of organization policies, procedures, and standards of care, including practice of safe work procedures with modality equipment.
  • General knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice and Harm Reduction approaches and Strengths-based care.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide competent and culturally safe care in a variety of settings and with diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of research process and methodology.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Hospital and Radiology Information Systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of PACS i.e., digital imaging, image archiving and retrieval.
  • Demonstrated ability to function as an effective leader, motivator, facilitator, and team member.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach, demonstrate, facilitate, coach and mentor staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop procedure protocols and manuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote a creative learning environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote a culture of enquiry and evidence-based practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop project plans and implement new projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) and deal effectively with clients and their families, coworkers, physicians, other health care staff, and staff of external agencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with and/or guide others in resolution of conflict issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to adjust to new or unexpected events.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and prioritize work.
  • Demonstrated skill in modality specific techniques and the use of applicable equipment and supplies.
  • Demonstrated skill in CPR techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment including applicable software applications.
  • Demonstrated physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
