Highway SuperintendentFull-Time | PermanentSaskatoon, SK | OnsiteSalary: $160,000 + bonusDescriptionOur client is seeking an experienced Highway Superintendent to lead and oversee base crew operations across Saskatchewan. This leadership role is responsible for managing highway construction projects from planning through completion—ensuring crews are properly trained, safety and environmental standards are met, and projects are delivered on schedule and in accordance with contract specifications.The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in Saskatchewan highway construction, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is comfortable with travel and rotational work. This is a great opportunity for a seasoned professional who enjoys building high-performing teams and delivering quality infrastructure projects.What You’ll Be DoingOversee and direct base crew operations, ensuring team members are well-trained and consistently aligned with the company’s Quality Control Program.Maintain and strengthen relationships with internal teams, clients, contract owners, consultants, and suppliersCoordinate equipment, materials, supplies, and subcontractors to support project executionCalculate truck and equipment requirements to achieve road productivity targetsWork with management and staff to ensure materials such as binder and aggregate are available in advance to maintain production schedules and qualityPlan, hire, train, and develop skilled crews to support operational successDevelop and implement efficient work plans that optimize manpower, equipment, and materialsEnsure compliance with environmental guidelines and regulatory requirementsOversee equipment maintenance programs and ensure all equipment is in proper working conditionManage project documentation and ensure timely reporting to clients, consultants, and the corporate officeEnsure projects meet or exceed contract specifications, quality standards, and budget targetsReview project performance and collaborate with leadership to address cost or productivity variancesIdentify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and encourage team input for continuous improvementSupport the identification of potential new business opportunities alongside company leadershipEnsure full compliance with corporate safety programs and regulatory health and safety requirementsConduct site inspections, safety meetings, hazard assessments, and incident reporting as requiredCollaborate with the Safety Management team to remain current on applicable regulationsPerform other duties as assignedWhat You Must HaveMinimum 10 years of road construction experience, including at least 5 years in a supervisory roleFormal training or coursework in road building and surfacing proceduresStrong knowledge of road construction practices and industry standardsUnderstanding of environmental, health, and safety regulations and compliance requirementsClass 5 Driver’s LicenseProven experience managing highway construction projects and crewsStrong leadership, communication, and team management skillsDemonstrated ability to allocate resources effectively to meet productivity goalsStrong planning, organizational, and time management abilitiesAbility to work under pressure, meet strict deadlines, and manage multiple prioritiesWhy Join the TeamWork with a respected organization involved in major highway infrastructure projects across SaskatchewanLead experienced crews and play a key role in delivering high-quality road construction projectsCompetitive compensation and performance-based bonusSupportive leadership team that values operational excellence and continuous improvementOpportunity to contribute to impactful projects that improve transportation infrastructure across the provinceWho Will Excel in This RoleThe ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with deep knowledge of road construction and a passion for building strong teams.
