The Division has research strengths in regenerative medicine, neuroscience and clinical anatomy incorporating the latest technologies and methodologies to address the fundamental biology of cells and systems. Our foundational anatomicaland science teaching is focused on excellence and innovation. Over 3000 students participate in our programs each year from undergraduate, graduate and health care professional programs. We have exceptional state-of-the-art laboratory facilities that offer hands on learning opportunities using human cadaveric specimens generously donated to our Willed Body Program, which is one of the largest body donation programs in Canada. Overall, the robust research and teaching in the Division offers an outstandingopportunity to train students in the critical understanding of body structure and function.The role of Anatomy Technician supports the operation and maintenance of anatomy teaching laboratories and examinations in the Division of Anatomy, Department of Surgery. Serving as an anatomy resource, you will assist with the preparation and maintenance of teaching labs, support laboratory demonstrations and instructional activities, and provide detailed explanations to students in the laboratory setting. You will also contribute to anatomy instruction and lab set-up across programs, including physiotherapy and medicine, and provide support for activities at the Scarborough Academy of Medicine and Integrated Health (SAMIH) as required.Your responsibilities will include:
- Setting up and maintaining anatomy teaching laboratories in collaboration with staff and course instructors, including supporting examinations according to course schedules
- Providing instruction on laboratory protocols and procedures to students, teaching assistants, and staff
- Demonstrating human anatomy to students and/or employees using anatomical specimens
- Ensuring safe handling of human material, specialized equipment, and laboratory materials
- Maintaining inventory of anatomical collections, chemicals, and/or apparatus within the Division
- Applying established standards when cleaning laboratories, rooms, and equipment
- Preparing human anatomical materials for teaching, including specimen preparation related to embalming procedures
- Bachelor's degree in Science or an acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience
- Minimum two (2) years of related experience providing instruction in human anatomy, including demonstrations or hands-on instruction using anatomical specimens
- Experience supporting professional programs in anatomical studies, including instructional or teaching laboratory environments
- Experience with prosection preparation, dissection, and plastination of anatomical specimens
- Strong knowledge of human anatomy, neuroanatomy, and embalming procedures
- Demonstrated attention to detail, particularly in laboratory procedures and specimen-handling
- Accurate record-keeping and organizational skills with the ability toprioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Ability to meet physical demands of the role, including lifting up to 100 lbs occasionally and 20 lbs frequently
- Master of Science degree is considered an asset

USW Pay Band 09 -- $67,916. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $86,855. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
