You are an experienced technical leader in Aquatic Biology who thrives on complex environmental challenges and multidisciplinary collaboration. In this role, you will guide project teams, elevate scientific excellence, and ensure WSP continues to be recognized as a trusted authority in ecological and biological services. You will influence strategy, support national initiatives, and contribute to impactful projects that help protect ecosystems while enabling responsible development.Your Impact
- Lead technical direction for aquatic biology deliverables across projects, ensuring scientific rigor, regulatory compliance, and alignment with WSP methodologies.
- Work with high-profile clients and multidisciplinary teams to scope and plan small, medium, and large-scale projects.
- Provide advanced expertise in aquatic biology to support environmental assessments, permitting processes, mitigation planning, and habitat evaluations.
- Oversee and review technical reports, impact assessments, baseline studies, restoration/compensation plans, and regulatory submissions.
- Mentor junior, intermediate, and senior professionals to strengthen technical capabilities across the Biology discipline.
- Collaborate with project managers and discipline leads to develop technical strategies, troubleshoot complex issues, and propose innovative, science-driven solutions.
- Engage effectively with regulators, clients, Indigenous communities, and partner organizations.
- Contribute to national and regional standards, best practices, and technical leadership initiatives.
- Support business development through proposals, scopes of work, and strategic pursuits.
- University degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related scientific field; graduate degree an asset.
- Minimum 15 years of directly relevant biological experience in environmental consulting.
- Professional designation such as R.P.Bio.
- Extensive experience in ecological assessments, field programs, scientific analysis, and environmental project delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership, peer review, and mentorship within a consulting firm or scientific environment
- Deep knowledge of federal and provincial regulatory frameworks (species at risk, habitat protection, environmental assessment, permitting).
- Excellent technical writing and ability to explain complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences.
- Strong stakeholder engagement experience and ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outputs in a dynamic consulting environment.
