An ideal candidate will have a valid group fitness certification, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to fostering healthy active lifestyles in a supportive environment.May also work at the Breithaupt Centre, Grand River Rec Complex, and Budd Park.(Temporary Part Time for Approximately 12 months)Responsibilities
  • Prepares and conducts appropriate programs for participants following required standards.
  • Demonstrates and instructs assigned activities and techniques using established teaching methodology and procedures; provides feedback to participants.
  • Explains and ensures safety rules and regulations governing sports, recreation activities and the use of equipment are followed.
  • Assembles supplies and equipment as required.
  • Completes record and reports including class attendance and accident/incident reports. Distributes applicable forms and program information.
  • Ensures safe use, condition and storage of any equipment.
  • Responds to participants' immediate concerns and or needs and provides customer service.
  • Acts as a liaison between the facility and participants.
  • Provides First Aid as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education
  • High school diploma.
Experience
  • Minimum 1 year of related experience providing group fitness.
Additional Requirements
  • Current technical and practical training in a specific discipline as outlined above and/or be a certified fitness or certified wellness instructor from a recognized institution.
  • Provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check at your own expense as a condition of employment.
  • Valid Emergency First Aid Certificate and CPR or be willing to obtain prior to Start Date.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including daytime, evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on program needs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal communication (written and oral), customer service, and behaviour management skills.
  • Reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
