- Provide legal services and support related to contractual matters such as procurement/sales matters, including the drafting, negotiation and revising of procurement/sales agreements.
- Manage litigation matters of the Unit with the support of external counsels if needed.
- Work on general commercial matters related to the Unit.
- Provide legal support on projects of group-wide importance (such as restructurings, significant mill projects and M&A).
- Provide legal advice and training related to compliance and policy matters for the Unit.
- Knowledgeable, experienced, autonomous, and effective.
- Client focused.
- Ability to work under pressure and to manage various matters.
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills both in writing and orally.
- Ability to understand and clearly explain complex topics to a range of stakeholders.
- Must be a graduate of an accredited law school and member of the Quebec bar.
- Must be fluent in French and Engligh (both in writing and orally)*.
- At least 5 years of experience in the related areas with a law firm or company legal department.
- Occasional travel for in-person meetings with the other in-house attorneys, internal clients and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of forestry, natural resources, environment and/or international trade is a plus.
- Prior in-house experience in or related to the pulp and paper industry is a plus.
