- Prepare and draft detailed mechanical designs under the mentorship of the Lead Design Engineer/Technologist or PM
- Create mechanical contract documents/specifications for all stages of project delivery including client approval, coordination with project manager/clients, tender submission, permit approval, construction, and records (post construction)
- Guiding, mentoring and leading junior staff on mechanical design and drafting
- Act as resource and technical drawing coordinator when required (CAD/BIM Lead)
- Develop and provide technical guidance to details in accordance with design intent
- Contribute to the team's technical knowledge resources
- Be creative and innovative in problem solving
- BIM Management at a Project Level and BIM Content Creation
- Ensure BIM Standards, Quality Assurance and Quality Control procedures are followed during drawing planning and production
- Assisting with BIM education/training and maintaining CAD/BIM standards
- Participating in and preparing studies, reports, assessments in the design of buildings, building mechanical systems, HVAC, and plumbing systems.
- A diploma in Engineering Design & Drafting, Building Environmental Systems Technology or equivalent from an accredited technical institute
- 7+ years of progressive experience in computer-aided design and drafting, of mechanical projects
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of the BC and National Building Codes, National Plumbing Code, ASHRAE standards
- Technical skills in the design of HVAC and overall building mechanical controls system
- Familiar with data processing and spreadsheets
- Project cost estimating and scheduling experience
- Proficient in using HAP or similar building heat loss simulation software
- Experience in construction inspection
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Demonstrated interpersonal and organizational skills
- Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail is essential
- Professional registration with ASTTBC is considered an asset
- Committed team player
- On-site and hands-on experience would be an asset
- Knowledge of NFPA is an asset
- Thorough working knowledge of BIM, IES, and hydraulic modelling tools are an asset.
- Leadership capabilities through mentoring of junior staff.
