The Scooper will monitor the inside and inner curb of the terminals looking for individuals soliciting transportation which is not governed and approved by the GTAA. Specific duties include but are not limited to:
- Being alert and observant while being outside, standing or walking for an extended period of time in all weather conditions (Rain, Snow, Excessive Heat & Cold, etc.)
- Enforce airport regulations with respect to scooper activity utilizing operational techniques for interdiction & interception.
- Effectively document all incidents
- Avoid direct contact with Scooper and don't engage in confrontation
- Inform passenger and advise where GTAA authorized Taxi or Limo stands are located on the curb
- Raise awareness and educate passengers of offered Ground Transportation Services - “Choose the right ride.”
- Working with a partner, a scooper Guard will be responsible for either the International or Domestic gate
- Predominately the focus is to capture the interior of the terminals, specifically within the International and Domestic gates. Guard may venture towards the Inner Curb (GTO) but must refrain from going to the outer curb unless directed by a supervisor, manager or GTAA
- Enforce the "Traffic on Land Side of Airports Regulations", as may be amended, supplemented or replaced from time to time (collectively the 'TLSARs")
- Issue Parking Infraction Notices (PINs) in accordance with established training procedures
- Attend court for the purpose of giving evidence on PINs issued by the guard
- Anticipate and address areas of vehicular / pedestrian congestions and attempt to relieve and/or ensure vehicles or pedestrians move in a safe, secure, orderly and efficient manner
- Detect and notify SOCC of a person(s) demonstrating suspicious behavior
- Provide a high level of customer service and collaborate with other stakeholders when required
- Records and submits number of interdictions and interceptions on a daily basis
- Maintain communications at all times with fellow Security guard, Cliental and Paladin Managerial Staff
- Respond immediately to any emergency and co-ordinate response accordingly based off established procedures
- Perform duties and tasks assigned by the Security Leadership team and respond to the directions of the client
- Be observant and record all discrepancies, deficiencies and safety hazards/ concerns noted during patrols and take corrective action either informing the applicable department or handling it personally, whenever possible
- Be courteous, and helpful in enforcing all company policies, procedures, rules and regulations
- Maintain the highest standard of security, being professional in attitude, appearance and application
- Perform security duties in accordance with established procedures. Ensure they are being conducted within the limitations of any federal, provincial and municipal laws
- Represent Paladin Security, GTAA, and their respected customers in such a way as to enhance the quality, image and reputation of Toronto Pearson International Airport
- Valid Ontario Security License
- Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a WSIB-approved vendor)
- English (oral and written) fluency is a must
- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
- Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
- Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB certification program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
- Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB certification is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
