Grow with us, H2O+U.Your OpportunityWe are seeking an Intermediate Coastal Engineer to join our Dartmouth office, with consideration for other Atlantic Canadian locations. You will be part of the Water Resources Technical Team within Stantec’s Water Business Line.Your Key ResponsibilitiesAs an Intermediate Coastal Engineer, you will contribute to a variety of hydrotechnical, hydrologic, and hydraulic projects within a dynamic design team. You will report directly to a Project Manager or Team Lead.Develop hydrodynamic models using tools such as MIKE 3, MIKE 21, and Telemac to support coastal and river engineering projects including design of coastal protection, nature based solutions, flooding risk analysis, design of marine infrastructure, sediment transport analysis, shoreline protection assessments, etcApply a strong understanding of hydrologic and hydraulic principles, with proficiency in HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, and PCSWMMPrepare clear and comprehensive technical reports documenting field investigations, analytical findings, and interpretationsSupport proposal development and assist in creating work plans, project schedules, and budgets, while managing assigned projects and tasksCollaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams, contributing to a cohesive and productive work environmentDemonstrate a solid understanding and consistent application of industry standards, guidelines, and regulatory frameworksPerform primarily office-based work, involving extended periods of computer use and data analysisYour Capabilities and CredentialsStrong verbal, written, and presentation communication skillsAbility to deliver high-quality, organized, and consistent resultsSelf-motivated and collaborative team playerCapable of managing multiple tasks and priorities dailyRecognized for technical expertise and practical problem-solvingDisciplined approach to project execution and technical excellenceSound decision-making and problem-solving abilitiesExcellent team-building abilitiesTechnically proficientFamiliarity with local markets and practices is an assetCommitment to Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) standardsProject management skills are an assetValid G-class driver’s license requiredEducation and ExperienceGraduate degree in Engineering with a focus on hydrodynamics, water resources, or hydrologyMinimum 5 years of relevant experience in consulting or regulatory environmentsRegular use of hydrodynamic modeling toolsProfessional registration with APGNS or Engineers NS (or equivalent provincial entity) or eligibility to obtain P.Eng. or P.Geo.Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
