Open the door to new opportunities and grow with us.GENERAL PURPOSE OF THIS JOBUnder the guidance of the Design Project Leader and Engineer of Record, the Intern Drafter – Electrical participates and assists with the development of "Best for Project" electrical, automation, and communication system designs for permanent mine infrastructure and temporary sinking installations. The role emphasizes safe, operable, and constructible solutions for underground and surface mining facilities, with a focus on automation, instrumentation, communication, and power systems.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESHEALTH AND SAFETY
  • Work in compliance with all Health and Safety rules and regulations for Cementation.
  • Be aware of any health and safety hazards or infractions and report same to Health and Safety Department.
  • Ensure all applicable safety codes and regulations are met by appropriate design and use of technology.
  • Participate in department safety huddles and incident imaging
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThis description lists the core responsibilities and duties of the position.
  • Assist with the design and drafting for permanent and temporary works related to the construction of underground mine shafts, facilities and infrastructure.
  • Develop electrical, automation, and communication system drawings, including:
  • Shaft sinking electrical systems
  • Hoist controls and shaft communication systems
  • Underground substations and distribution networks
  • Mine-wide fiber, copper, and wireless communication systems
  • PLC/DCS/SCADA architectures, panel layouts, and instrumentation schematics
  • Produce P&IDs, loop diagrams, I/O lists, network diagrams, and panel wiring drawings.
  • To produce a deliverable that is on time, on budget and has the correct scope in accordance with the project requirements.
  • Ensure designs reflect operational requirements and reliability appropriate for mining environments.
  • Develop design drafting and 3D modelling with the integration of power distribution, automation, instrumentation, and communication designs into multi‑discipline projects.
  • Use and maintain knowledge of the latest codes, standards and mine regulations.
  • Develop material take-offs
  • Follow company/departmental design and drafting procedures in the development of drawings.
  • Participate in group meetings and discussions.
  • Work within a project team to coordinate and support drafting efforts.
  • Maintain a training program for software proficiency usage
  • Back drafting and CADD support

  • Secondary School Diploma
  • Electrical Technician or Technologist diploma
  • Work term or previous experience in mining or heavy industrial construction is preferred.
