Job DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?The Associate Director, Recovery and Resolution Planning provides key support for the development of recovery plans, board-approved resolution plans and related activities (e.g. capabilities testing, work plan governance) and the integration of recovery and resolution principles within key business as usual activities.The opportunity is enterprise-wide in focus covering all segments, lines of business and material subsidiaries across global RBC from a recovery and resolution planning perspective providing holistic views to senior management on the impact to recovery and resolution strategies from strategic business initiatives, legal and organizational changes and regulatory developments.What will you do?
  • Manage and enhance the development, coordination and completion of the assigned elements of RBC’s recovery and resolution planning initiatives (the “Plans” or “RRP”), including the Plans themselves in addition to relating testing, work plan and integration analyses, within a largely decentralized cross-enterprise operating framework.
  • Assist in preparing RRP items for Global Recovery & Resolution Oversight Committee, senior internal and external stakeholders, including Group Executive, Board of Directors, and regulators (OSFI, CDIC, European Central Bank, Bank of England) in addition to annual or more frequent Crisis Management Groups.
  • Drive and support the implementation of RRP strategy across segment, line of business and subsidiary levels, providing ongoing support and subject matter expertise in addition to managing related RRP component working groups.
  • Assist in the integration of relevant RRP elements into related RBC-wide processes, policies and frameworks, including financial crisis management, strategic plans, and Risk Appetite.
  • Support, critically review and assess segment and subsidiary level RRP and its alignment to RBC Group RRP (strategic, financial, legal, capital and liquidity planning)
  • Proactively analyze RRP learnings to identify opportunities for improvements to recoverability and resolvability of RBC and its subsidiaries.
  • Support regulatory requests and ongoing communication with Canadian and global regulators, notably RBC’s Crisis Management Group.
  • Evaluate strategic initiatives and regulatory developments covering business strategies, financial outlook, capital and liquidity planning in addition to changes in RBC’s corporate and legal structure in collaboration with senior management, line of business representatives, Finance, Internal Audit, Law, Corporate Treasury, Enterprise Strategy, Corporate Development and GRM teams to ensure RRP remains evergreen, relevant and actionable.
What do you need to succeed?Must Have
  • Post-secondary education in Finance, Economics, Accounting or a related field.
  • Quantitative background with 5-7 years of experience in banking businesses, Risk Management, Finance, Corporate Treasury Consulting or other related fields
  • Experience with modern analytical and Data Visualization tools such as Python (Matplotlib, Plotly, Seaborn), GitHub and Tableau
  • Knowledge of AI (e.g. Python), Tableau and creative/content-based tools (e.g. Adobe) or willingness to learn
  • Proficient in SQL, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to design and deliver compelling presentations to senior management and other stakeholders
  • Excellent writing, communication, stakeholder management and presentation skills
  • Organized self-starter with strong conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills, positive & collaborative mindset to take initiative and drive results
Nice to Have
  • Graduate degree in a relevant field (e.g. Finance, Law)
  • CA, CFA, JD, FRM or other professional designations
