- Deliver high quality strength and conditioning services to individual athletes, small groups, and teams.
- Develop periodized training plans informed by sport science data, monitoring systems, and long term athlete development principles.
- Lead, conduct, oversee, and refine performance testing, athlete profiling, and reporting.
- Recruit, mentor, supervise, and evaluate a team of strength and conditioning coaches.
- Lead professional development, technical standards, continuing education, and quality assurance across the S&C function.
- Foster a collaborative culture with medical, sport science, nutrition, and mental performance providers.
- Act as the primary liaison for strength and conditioning services with local, provincial, and national sport organizations, ensuring clear communication and effective collaboration.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee the integration of strength and conditioning within Oval High Performance sport programs—including Volleyball, Climbing, Speed Skating, Basketball, Hockey, Table Tennis, and other sports as needed—to optimize athlete performance and support program objectives.
- Oversee the schedules of all Strength & Conditioning coaches and collaborate closely with technical sport program leaders on planning.
- Lead the administration of performance programs and initiatives and including program descriptions, registration workflows, web content updates, and marketing materials.
- Develop and manage operational and capital budgets.
- Oversee equipment lifecycle management: maintenance, replacement, and acquisition to ensure facilities exceeds industry standards.
- Lead the creation and expansion of new revenue generating performance training programs and services.
- Collaborate on design and delivery of seasonal camps and training camps for provincial and national groups.
- Produce educational content (seminars, videos, articles, blogs) for athletes, parents, and external partners.
- Contribute to marketing efforts including social media initiatives and digital education content.
- Ensure department practices align with Oval Safe Sport values, programs and codes of conduct.
- Foster positive, inclusive, and athlete centered training environment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Manager, High Performance & Fitness.
- Bachelor’s degree in Sport Science, Kinesiology or related field (Master’s degree an asset)
- Current strength & conditioning certification e.g., NSCA-CSCS, (CSCP an asset).
- Current CPR/First Aid; additional safety certifications an asset.
- Safe Sport Certification and commitment to the Responsible Coaching Movement (RCM)
- 5+ years of applied strength & conditioning experience with youth, development, and high performance athletes.
- Experience working within an IST environment with medical and sport science professionals.
- Experience leading and developing a team of coaches.
- Experience with provincial, national team, professional, or Olympic/Paralympic pathway athletes.
- Experience as an athlete is considered an asset.
- Proven success in athlete development across multiple stages of the Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model.
- Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check.
- Strong leadership, mentorship, and staff development skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Expertise with athlete monitoring tools, sport technologies, and data-informed decision making.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills, including budgeting financial analysis, and performance reporting.
- Proven ability to build and grow strategic relationships and partnerships.
- Customer service–oriented with a growth mindset and a high standard of professionalism.
- Ability to motivate and empower teams with enthusiasm and vision.
- Application of sport science principles to optimize athlete development.
- Skilled in business writing, presentations, and sport partner engagement.
