
Facility Process Engineer

- Responsible for the process design, operation and implementation of new and existing plant equipment.
- Improve industrial processes in order to maintain efficiency, reduce cost, improve sustainability and maximize profitability.
- Develop, configure and optimize industrial processes from inception through to start up and certification.
- Design, run, test and upgrade systems and processes and perform risk assessments.
- Develop best practices, routines and innovative solutions to improve production rates and quality of output.
- Assess, report on, promote and carry out process improvements initiatives, specifically with regard to machine and/or system reliability and improved performance. This includes analyzing data, conducting risk assessments and monitoring processes to collect data and make recommendations.
- Update maintenance and equipment parts records using a computerized maintenance management system (iMaint).
- Liaise with service providers, technicians and equipment manufacturers for support on commissioning, repairs and upgrades.
- Develop and implement Food Safety and quality control measures, conduct risk assessments, and monitor processes to prevent contamination and ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
- Research and make equipment selection recommendations for process improvement.
- Install and commission new equipment and develop preventative maintenance procedures as required.
- Collaborate with several cross-functional teams internally and externally for the viable production of products and process.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Direct and lead contractors as required.
- Maintain files and records of jobs performed and equipment condition as required.
- Maintain files, records, line diagrams, etc. of electrical and instrumentation equipment and installations.
- Adhere to and fully participate in the company's Health & Safety, Environmental and Management system.
- Perform emergency response as required.
- May be requested to undertake other related duties on a periodic basis.
- Typically requires completion of a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering along with 2-3 years relevant work experience or a combination of education and work experience.
- Proven work experience in process engineering.
- Excellent technical skills and knowledge of process related standards.
- Working knowledge of process engineering software packages along with experience using CAD or AutoCad.
- Knowledge of maintenance processes, equipment and materials.
- Excellent computer skills. CMMS experience an asset.
- Excellent time management and priority setting skills.
- Analytical thinker with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- High standards of cleanliness and order.
- Ability to read, interpret, prepare or assist in the preparation of documents including mechanical and civil drawings.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Ability to climb ladder and use general maintenance tools and equipment.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- Flexible as to hours and days of work with the ability to travel.
- Occasional requirement to wear cumbersome protective clothing or equipment.
- Possible exposure to dangerous or unpleasant environmental elements such as dirt or dust, extreme temperatures and adverse weather conditions for driving and/or for outdoor work.
- Will be required to lift, carry and/or handle heavy objects.
