Adecco is currently hiring for a full-time Manufacturing Design Engineer to support our client's growing engineering and manufacturing operations n Markham, ON. In this key role, you will serve as the critical link between engineering design teams and the manufacturing shop, ensuring that Protection, SCADA, and Telecom panels are built correctly, efficiently, and to the highest technical standards.If you thrive at the intersection of design, manufacturing, and continuous improvement? Then this role is for you.Pay Rate: $Location: Markham, ONJob type: Temporary | Full-timeVacancy Status: This posting is for an existing vacancy.Qualifications - Manufacturing Design Engineer:Experience in mechanical design for metal fabricationExposure to design for Protection & Control panel manufacturingFamiliarity with utility standards, documentation practices, and substation automationAbility to deliver training and write technical procedures or engineering instructionsProficiency in AutoCAD panel design toolsStrong understanding of CSA, UL, and CE requirementsLean/6 Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification (preferred)P.Eng designation is an assetIncorporated Contractors welcomeMust be legally eligible to work, and reside in CanadaResponsibilities - Manufacturing Design Engineer:Design Package Review & ApprovalReview enclosure designs for proper sizing, IP/NEMA rating, thermal considerations, mounting, and compliance with standards and customer specifications.Validate panel layouts for fit, clearances, segregation, accessibility, and logical cable routing.Review schematics and elementary diagrams for correctness, completeness, device tagging consistency, and signal integrity across protection, SCADA, and telecom systems.Validate wiring diagrams, ensuring accurate references, traceability, field interface alignment, and consistency with schematics.Review wire lists and wire-length lists for proper wire types, coding, sizing, realistic lengths, and manufacturing compatibility.Coordination with Enclosure / Metal SupplierDefine and validate drilling and cut-out patterns for door-mounted devices, cable entries, and internal equipment mounting.Provide or review DXF files, drilling drawings, and templates to verify dimensions, tolerances, and compliance with mechanical and safety standards.Ensure perfect alignment between supplier drawings, internal layouts, and manufacturing requirements.Manufacturability & StandardizationEnsure panel designs are practical, safe, and efficient to manufacture, assemble, and test.Enforce design standards, templates, documentation, and best practices across panel types.Identify opportunities for DFM/DFT improvements and contribute to continuous refinement.Engineering-Manufacturing InterfaceAct as the primary technical liaison between design teams and the manufacturing shop.Clarify design intent, resolve technical queries, and drive timely closure of non-conformities and redline updates.Support Quality, Testing, and Commissioning teams to ensure documentation and panel construction allow efficient FAT, SAT, and field commissioning activities.Quality, Compliance & Continuous ImprovementValidate compliance with applicable safety, grounding, EMC, CSA/UL/CE, and customer specifications.Track recurring issues, lead root-cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions.Maintain and develop checklists, standard work instructions, and best-practice guidesWhy Join This Team - Manufacturing Design Engineer:Work in a high-impact engineering role where your expertise ensures quality and safety.Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering, operations, and supplier teams.Contribute to continuous improvement and modernization of manufacturing processes.Join a respected employer that values technical excellence and innovation.Are you interested in this position?
