- Fuel Handling systems
- Perform engineering calculations with respect to strength of materials, speeds, torque, temperature, pressure, force, etc. as related to machine and tool designs.
- Analyze designs and systems for compliance with applicable standards
- Review drawings for accuracy, material selection, machining techniques, finishes, hardness, and welds.
- Understand electrical and mechanical assembly best practices for nuclear tooling.
- Interpret specifications, drawings, manuals, and 3D models to plan sequences of operations, determine test parameters, and identify required testing equipment.
- Verify dimensions and alignment of test setups using instruments such as laser distance measurement and 3D modeling. Configure test setups according to customer specifications.
- Assist toolmakers, electricians, programmers, and designers in debugging, integrating, and testing systems.
- Support data collection and analysis of test results to draw conclusions about tooling status
- Responding to and reporting incidents and accidents in accordance with ATS, the Client’s and the licensed facility’s Procedures
- Strictly follow CSA N285/NQA Quality requirements as defined within the manual and procedures
- Demonstrate leadership and hold team members accountable in Health, Safety and Environment compliance
- Implement appropriate corrective measures for unsafe conditions and unsafe acts.
- Ensure that appropriate equipment, materials and protective devices are provided and used effectively.
- Liaise with customers, engineering staff, and suppliers to obtain technical information and specifications.
- Communicate and summarize detailed technical information pertaining to tooling status and troubleshooting
- Work with customer and supporting organizations to develop plans and execute emergent work.
- Communicate time estimates and resource requirements on design tasks to leadership.
- Coordinate activities and schedules with licensed facility owner/operator
- Develop, review, and deliver Nuclear Service team training material
- Prepare Daily Work Plans and Pre-Job Briefings, including Safety issues
- Monitor, observe, and assess maintenance work activities
- Ensure teams accurately transfer pertinent work task information into management systems & logs
- Establish required resources for supporting projects. Review project schedules on a timely basis to ensure the projects are completed on time and take corrective action, coordinating with other departments as required.
- Assess workload, assign leads and team members to projects and oversee task completion according to specific deadlines and project schedules.
- Encourage and mentor direct employees to ensure that departmental morale and efficiency are maintained at the highest level.
- Support employee training by analyzing needs and facilitating arrangements.
- Based on business goals and annual growth, support the Manager, Nuclear Service in establishing resource requirements, skills, and organizational needs that will sustain adequate capacity and leadership within the team.
- Provide expertise for projects progressing through the manufacturing and system installation, execution, and maintenance stages to overcome and correct problems and technical difficulties.
- Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.
- Provide subject matter expertise within agreed-upon timeframes to Sales and Applications in the quotation process.
- When called upon to provide subject matter expertise, maintain overall customer satisfaction by anticipating and preventing issues before they become customer concerns and by optimizing the use of resources.
- Operate with key technical personnel at the customer site to position ATS as a key to their success and to influence subsequent buying decisions.
- Monitor and report on internal customer satisfaction data.
- Required to be a Nuclear Energy Worker (NEW) due to reactor vault work and handling contaminated tooling at CNSC-licensed facilities.
- Security clearances from Bruce Power, OPG, and/or CNL are required for short-term assignments at their CNSC-licensed sites.
- Engineering degree or post-secondary technology degree/diploma in mechanical technology, mechatronics, robotics, controls, industrial or manufacturing engineering, or equivalent.
- Experience in assembly, testing, and commissioning of automated nuclear tooling.
- Working knowledge of nuclear quality systems, codes, and standards (CSA N285, CSA Z299, CSA N299).
- High proficiency in computer software applications, including Microsoft Office, PLM software, SolidWorks, SCADA
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, leadership, and customer-facing behavior
- Project engineering, electro-mechanical analysis, and project management experience is an asset.
