- Check design for complete and complex heater components and structures in conformance with API 530, API 560, ASME B31.1, B31.3 client specification and data sheets.
- Review engineering drawings with approval, and construction issue drawing packages including layouts, details, BOM, shipping and installations.
- Produces details and dimensions of all parts of heater. This included component assemblies, welding symbols of steel members and detailed dimensioning of individual pieces.
- Review General Arrangement and detailed drawings of all heater components.
- Review general arrangement and detailed drawings of coil and process piping (inlet/outlet).
- Review General Arrangement and detailed drawings of ladders & platforms, stairs.
- Review General Arrangement and detailed drawings of pipe supports.
- Review layouts and details of auxiliary equipment that attaches to the heater.
- Locates all instrumentation on heater.
- Review details of erection, lifting and shipping diagrams.
- Review and details new components from previous Generate and Review based on the engineers instruction and all applicable codes.
- Participates in design review sessions.
- Collects, reads, interprets, and uses related reference documents and drawings prepared by other disciplines, vendors, or outside sources.
- Coordinates design drawings and models with other departments to clarify or resolve design issues.
- Ensures compliance with approved design standards to provide quality design, safety, constructability, reliable operation, construction economy and operating convenience.
- Prepares design standard package to standardize design effort.
- Prepares as built drawings.
- Ensures that all the work produced is in accordance with the company’s established standards and that the design complies with applicable engineering codes and practices.
- Adheres to procedures issued by company and is Familiar with ISO 9001 procedure requirements.
- Adheres to client procedures and proper engineering practices.
- Use API 560 Standards for design practice; ASME B31.3 for process piping.
- Inputs and sets document standards, procedures and methods for engineering department use.
- Calculates weight of heater parts as well as helps with timetables and bill of materials.
- Assists in developing best practices and tools for project execution and management.
- Review client specifications.
- Sit in on client/vendor conference calls and advise.
- Evaluate client comments and requirements.
- Check design and fabrication drawings.
- Answer questions from internal/external sources.
- Thoroughly study and understand engineering drawings from vendors, other disciplines, or outside sources.
- Jobsite visits, as required, to resolve problems and interpret drawings and documents.
- Assists field forces during fabrication and construction.
- File an electronic copy in appropriate Rev folder; Rev working folder copy up.
- Monitor and document all drawings that enter or leave engineering department for each job worked on.

- Adequate in Microsoft 365.
- Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.
- Advanced knowledge in structural steel members and components.
- Ensure that all work produced is in accordance with company’s established standards.
- Ensure that design complies with applicable engineering codes and practices.
- Is familiar with API 530, API 560 and B31.3.
- The ability to visualize the whole project, but work in detail on various components.
- The ability to see components in a 3D environment.
- Is familiar with pipe & fitting specifications.
- Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Reacts to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently.
- Flexible during times of change.
- Can multi-task on various time constrained activities.
- Engineering Degree or diploma is considered an asset, but not required.
- ASET or APEGA certified preferred.
- Some experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is an asset.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of industry/regulatory codes and standards.
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills.
