Job Category: Project ManagementDegree Level: Bachelor's DegreeJob Description:The Assistant Program Manager II will support the development and execution of program performance. As a representative within the Integrated Program Team (IPT), their primary responsibility will be to work closely with the Program Management Office (PMO) and Planning Organization to ensure a seamless interface between IPT and planning, and production support departments. This includes developing programmatic deliverables and working with stakeholders to track and manage schedule, budget, quality, risk, and safety. This role will be reporting to the Senior Program Planning Manager for Polar, but the responsibilities will be shared between Polar and MPI.Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 2 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.What you'll do
  • Assist in development and executing comprehensive program plans and schedules to achieve project milestones and objectives.
  • Produces weekly and monthly program reports that measure program performance against established goals and objectives.
  • Develops summary reports and proposals for key program performance metrics. Distributes summary reports to senior management, identifies variances from plan, and assists in developing and monitoring corrective actions.
  • Attends weekly and monthly program meetings and presents summary of key program issues to departmental representatives.
  • Works with departmental representatives in resolving outstanding program issues.
  • Actively engage with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and mitigate risks, ensuring the development of executable schedules and the successful execution of shipyard programs.
  • Monitor and analyze program progress, identifying potential bottlenecks and proposing solutions to ensure timely resolution.
  • Tracks and drive planning commitments identified during internal/external program forums.
  • Collaborate with the broader planning functions to implement best practices and technologies that improve program execution and functional capability.
What you'll bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related technical field, or equivalent proven experience.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in shipbuilding or ship repair, manufacturing, or construction industry, in progressively senior positions. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in planning and scheduling in shipbuilding and/or ship repair industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of project management methodologies and tools, including Earned Value Management and Primavera, and MS Project.
  • Experience working with engineering, planning or production in the shipbuilding industry or in a complex manufacturing industry.
  • Demonstrated experience with all of the following product lifecycle and project management toolsets: ARAS, Primavera P6, IFS or Oracle MRP, and JIRA.
  • Knowledge of program performance metrics including the ability to identify key metrics and assist in the development of performance reports.
  • Knowledge of Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS), scheduling systems and resource planning techniques.
  • Technical skills with knowledge of modern shipbuilding design, procurement and production techniques are desirable.
  • Problem solving skills, analytical abilities and interpersonal skills.
  • Customer service focus.
  • Advanced computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and SharePoint).
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize competing objectives.

The estimated salary for this position is $99,000 - $121,000. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate's skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity.
