Through teamwork and collaboration, we’re building a stronger, more resilient Stantec every day.Your OpportunityAn opportunity exists for a Senior Financial Analyst, Team Lead in our Corporate Financial Services Team (FST). As a key member of this team, your main responsibility is for the oversight of the period end processing and consolidation in Oracle to ensure that the internal financial statements are timely and accurate. In addition, you will provide guidance and direction to the Accounting Technicians and Analysts involved in the day-to-day operations of financial reporting, adding value to the company by providing financial expertise. This hybrid opportunity is in our Edmonton, Alberta office.Your Key ResponsibilitiesPreparing and approving journal entries to support the period end close, including currency translation, allocations, and statistical metrics.Overseeing the team responsible for the period end processing, including posting entries, and maintaining the allocations.Maintaining the chart of accounts, revaluation rules and reviewing the monthly foreign exchange rates uploaded to Oracle.Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant completion of mandated surveys for Canadian and U.S. government agencies, including Statistics Canada and the U.S. Census Bureau.Assisting with the 5-day period end, close process including identifying any issues and the action required to correct them to ensure that our financial statements are accurate.Ensuring staff are fully trained and equipped to perform in a high-volume, centralized environment.Assisting with the hiring of technicians and analysts within the Financial Reporting group and determining the best allocation of work given the resources available.Answering queries from Internal and External auditors.Ensuring key controls for financial reporting related to Stantec’s SOX and internal control program are effective and operational.Assisting with the review and implementation of various business process improvements.Various duties and projects, as assigned by senior financial reporting staff.Your Capabilities and CredentialsWell-developed leadership skills, demonstrating initiative and assertiveness.Proficiency in Oracle EBS (or other large Enterprise system).Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.Experience with Blackline software (Journals, Account Reconciliations) is an asset.Effective communication skills, including written and oral English language competency.Experience working with multiple currencies.Strong organizational skills to manage multiple competing priorities and firm deadlines.Proactive with strong attention to detail.Proven ability to understand multi levels of organization, disciplines, and entities.Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.Education and ExperienceA CPA designation or accounting degree/diploma and close to completion of CPA.Supervisory experience working in a fast-paced accounting environment.Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.This description is not a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that may be required of the employee and other duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned or may be changed at any time with or without notice.About StantecStantec is a global leader in sustainable engineering, architecture, and environmental consulting.
