The Ramp Lead is responsible for supporting all ground handling operations; they are accountable for ensuring all policies and procedures are followed in the ramp operation. Reporting into the Operations Supervisor, the Ramp Lead act as the first point of contact for all Ramp Agents on shift and are responsible for communicating and escalating issues to Supervisors.
This position is required to be on call outside the standard scheduled hours of work. A company cell phone and email will be provided for the purpose of attending to emergency and operational circumstances as required on a rotational basis.Responsibilities:
- Ensure adherence of corporate, departmental and OH&S policies and procedures.
- Establish and lead a high-performance ground handling team to meet and exceed customer satisfaction.
- Train ramp agents on operational requirements for the aircraft.
- Direct, plan and organize day to day ramp operations effectively. Plan and prioritize work for self and staff.
- Ensure all equipment is fueled and available for flights.
- Determine needed supplies and equipment.
- Uphold accountability of ramp agent tasks.
- Ensure staff checklists are completed for each shift including Ground Service Equipment (GSE) checklists, and Field Level Risk Assessments (FLRA)
- Lead daily toolbox meetings
- Plan, design and perform ramp services according to the standards set by Executive Flight Centre.
- Follow Ground Operations Manual and be able to enforce company’s policies and procedures effectively to lead by example.
- Load and unload aircraft.
- Marshall and chock aircraft.
- Provide a variety of servicing on aircraft such as lavatories and potable water.
- Assist in field maintenance, primarily on the apron and around the building entrances for snow clearing and grass cutting.
- Direct passengers on the apron as instructed by customer service agents.
- Ensure correct baggage loading information is given to each aircraft, including any ballast concerns.
- Operate all ground service equipment safely and responsibly.
- Perform audits on handling, safety and security as required including involvement in implementation regarding cargo and aircraft handling.
- Provide award-winning ground handling services including building quality relationships with customers.
- Make sure all customer complaints are addressed and handled professionally, leaving the customer with a positive resolution.
- Troubleshoot issues within the ground handling process.
- Maintain a tidy and orderly work area exhibiting pride in work performance and contributing to a healthy and safe work environment.
- Ensure exceptional, courteous, and respectful customer service.
- Comply with and participate in the Company’s Health & Safety and Quality programs and initiatives.
- Perform any other duties as required.
- Previous experience in the aviation industry in a similar role would be an asset.
- A valid class 5 driver’s license is required – No Graduated Driver’s License permitted.
- Airport Security Clearance and Driver’s Abstract is required as a condition of employment.
- Obtain a restricted operator’s certificate (radio license) within 60 days of employment.
- First Aid and CPR would be an asset.
- Able to work inclement weather, overtime and extended shifts.
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Able to lift or move up to 60 lbs.
- Highly motivated and able to work with minimal or no supervision.
- Basic mathematics, trouble shooting skills and excellent attention to detail.
