Position(s): Apprentice Lineman
Shift Schedule: Monday – Friday (with overtime opportunity)
Location: Melfort, SaskatchewanWe are seeking motivated Apprentice Powerline Technician's (full-time, permanent) to join our growing team in Melfort, Saskatchewan to support operations in various sites in Acheson, AB and surrounding area(s).The Apprentice Powerline Technician's will accompany the Foreman and the rest of the operational crew members to various work and project sites throughout Melfort, Saskatchewan and surround area(s). The successful candidates will be travelling with the crew to various work sites throughout the day and assist with assembly, erection, installing, and troubleshooting distribution system power line and cables.Forbes Bros Ltd. has a family-oriented culture that focuses on flexibility, communication, growth & respect in the workplace. - Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair power lines and cables that run between distribution electrical systems, towers and poles
- Assemble, erect and maintain steel, wood or concrete poles, towers and guy wires
- Splice, solder and insulate conductors and related wiring to connect power distribution networks
- Maintain and repair overhead and underground power lines and cables, and other associated equipment such as insulators, conductors, lightning arrestors, switches, transformers and lighting systems
- Adhere to Forbes Bros Occupational Health and Safety rules and regulations
- Perform other tasks related to this function as assigned
- Current and recognized Apprenticeship Card, is required
- Minimum 1 (one) year of experience working as an apprentice in the trade, is required
- Knowledge of distribution systems, is preferred
- Must be able to distinguish between colors
- English proficiency with the ability to read, comprehend, and execute written work plans, blueprints, and writing schematics
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to direct a team to efficiently and effectively complete jobs within deadlines
- Flexible with hours worked, travel, and working in adverse weather conditions
- Able and willing to accommodate frequent overtime hours and weekend hours when required
- Able and willing to perform manual labor in varying weather conditions and environments inclusive of heavy lifting
- Able and willing to provide an acceptable five (5) year Driver's Abstract
