Join us!Job SummaryThe Superintendent Transportation is responsible for overseeing carload operations activities across the territory to ensure the safety of railway operations, network fluidity, and volume growth. The role ensures the Company meets customer targets and metrics while containing costs and mitigating risks.Main Responsibilities· Develop, lead and mobilize a Transportation team (union and non-union) to ensure network fluidity and cross-functional collaboration to drive results· Implement a safety mindset and drive safety initiatives· Integrate new employees and optimize resources· Deepen the understanding of customer base and service requirements to support the development of a full supply chain offering that allows growth· Drive customer priorities through collaboration and team engagement· Improve employee retention· Handle collective agreements by ensuring alignment· Coach and mentor the team to drive results and improve efficiencies· Identify opportunities and implement processes to improve efficiencies· Develop and utilize reports to run network fluidityWorking ConditionsThe role is performed in a combination of office and outdoor environments in various types of weather conditions with irregular hours (including nights, weekends, holidays). The role requires being available on call 24/7 to respond to critical incidences. The role requires regular travel (50%) within the assigned territory and occasionally to United States for company business without advance notice. Moreover, the role requires experience working with heavy machinery.RequirementsExperienceSupervision· Minimum 10 years of supervisory experience of both unionized and non-unionized employeeso Industrial job experience that demonstrates progression of responsibility and complexity in a safety-compliant environmento Minimum 2 years of experience as an Assistant Superintendent (Railway) or mid-level manager in a transportation setting, with increasing levels of responsibilitieso Exposure to service design and rail traffic controlo Exposure to other transportation roles within operations**Any experience for these above would be considered as an assetEducation/Certification/Designation· Bachelor's Degree in Business, Logistics or relative field of study, or working towards completion*· Valid Driver's License*Any designation for these above would be considered as an assetCompetencies· Identifies potential safety and security risks· Leads by example for the safety and security of all· Collaborates with others and shares information· Sets direction and inspires others· Communicates with impact· Seeks and values all perspectives· Demonstrates agility and drives change· Applies critical thinkingTechnical Skills/Knowledge· Comprehensive knowledge of railway operations· Understanding of operations and financial metrics· Knowledge of customer needs, operating rules and collective agreementsAbout CNCN is a premium railroad that sustainably generates value for our customers, shareholders, employees, and stakeholders with an unwavering commitment to safety and service.
