One (1) permanent, full-time position averaging 32 hours per week:
Shift Schedule:
- 1200-1800
- 1200-2200 (alternating Wednesdays)
- 0800-1800 (alternating weekends)
- Shift times may vary based on operational needs.
Applicants must be physically able to do lifts and transfers for low weight bearing individuals.Note:
While this role is posted and functions as a Full-Time position, it may be coded as Part-Time for payroll system purposes only. This internal designation will not affect scheduled hours, compensation, benefits, or entitlements.In Your Role You Will
- Support individuals with household chores, life skills, personal hygiene (if needed).
- Provide supports as per the individual's care plan
- Provide immediate support in crisis situations and use de-escalation techniques to deal with behaviours
- Administer medication, first aid if/when necessary.
- Use computer program to write objective daily reports and document notes & observations regarding the client
- A complete and detailed list of key responsibilities can be available at time of interview.
- Must be physically fit to assist with lifts and transfers and able to support with personal hygiene and dressing.
- Must be self motivated and physically capable of supporting individuals in achieving social and recreational goals, including promoting community inclusion through activities such as bingo, bowling, swimming, attending church, and other physical or social events.
- Previous experience working with developmental disability or mental illness
- MUST HAVE - Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver's License; reliable vehicle, clean driver's abstract and adequate insurance
- A positive attitude and belief that persons with disabilities have the right / responsibility to define and pursue their life choices, and pursue active participation and involvement in the community.
- Skills in assisting individuals in anger management, daily living, self-help, etc.
- First Aid/CPR Certification
- Crisis Prevention Intervention, Medication Administration, Abuse Protocol, Proactive Procedures and Behavioural Strategies, Foundations and Disabilities Training
- Knowledge of basic health and safety rules and guidelines for personal health and safety, as appropriate.
