
Signaling Communication Electrical Technician

- Execution of the predictive, preventative, and corrective maintenance including but not limited to signaling, communications and electrical system.
- Ability to read and interpret schematic diagrams and SLDs.
- Follow written procedures, engineering drawings and instructions to execute preventative maintenance, modification and corrective maintenance as required or directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Technical analysis of faults, software/HW development and integration.
- Complete work orders, checklists, tracking sheets and all necessary documentation clearly and on time.
- Support specific technical investigations by Engineering or internal/external supplier.
- Perform and plan preventative maintenance following written procedures, keep records of the results and report all defects found.
- Prioritize work within a shift to minimize unavailability and ensure that assigned work is completed in a timely manner.
- Liaise/coordinate with subcontractors and client to carry out maintenance or inspections for related sub-system and infrastructure assets.
- Recommend and implement measures to improve asset performance and reduce maintenance costs and/or response time.
- Responsible for ensuring working areas, storage areas and duty vehicles are kept in a clean and safe state and for completing housekeeping, vehicle usage and other related checklists.
- Ensures that any equipment or materials used are replenished at the earliest opportunity.
- Assist with commissioning of new and existing Electronics systems and support systems ensuring high reliability and safety of equipment.
- Contribute to On The Job Training and mentoring of colleagues and be able to step up to lead a team.
- Support the objectives of contractual reliability and availability.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- May be ask to support other maintenance team / subcontractors.

- Minimum 2-year technical degree in electronics, communications, or electrical disciplines.
- Relevant railway experience is an asset.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and orally. Must be able to communicate clearly and give & receive dispatches by radio.
- Must be capable of bending and lifting heavy equipment, tools and materials.
- A valid Ontario driver’s license - Class G.
- Able to pass all mandatory trainings from Transport Canada.
- Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with Signals and Train Control and SCADA systems is considered an asset.
- Previous exposure/experience in a transit operational environment.
- A willingness to devote the time and energy necessary to meet the significant demands of a high profile and key infrastructure project in the City of Ottawa.
- Must be flexible to work on nights, weekends, Holidays, rotational shifts (24/7) and on-calls to ensure availability of technicians for operations.
- Must pass CROR / ORCR and other regulatory requirements.
