To gain comprehensive field, office, and professional experience under the supervision of an experienced Ontario Land Surveyor in the pursuit of obtaining your professional designation, you will assist the Principal with surveying activities while learning the ins and outs of legislation, legal requirements, and evidence assessment. In addition, you will perform work in the role of a Party Chief to aid in developing your proficiency in the 14 Cadastral Core Competencies.Your Key ResponsibilitiesDemonstrate a personal commitment and leadership in providing a safe working environment by promoting and maintaining a culture of safety by compliance with Stantec and client safety systems, policies, procedures, environmental requirementsStrong mathematical and analytical skills.Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions conducting comprehensive legal, topographic, bathymetric, earthworks, civil construction (roads, corridors, piping, slopes, structures) as-built surveysConsult, collaborate and share survey data with engineering, QA/QC and contract personnelPrepare and maintain excellent field notes, sketches, maps and reports of survey data to describe/certify work areasProviding complete and accurate survey data, notes/sketches, and supporting information in accordance with a Data Quality Management SystemProficiency managing data with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, or other survey related software is an assetEngage with Articling Principal to develop essential core competencies (project management/costing, liaising with clients/municipalities/third-party agents, etc.)Completion of the Articling project reports and examinations within the timeframe established by the Association of Ontario Land SurveyorsUphold the professional standards and ethical practices of the AOLSYour Capabilities and CredentialsAbility to execute surveys in a safe, accurate, efficient, and detailed manner in an outdoor environmentAbility to create and accurately maintain project documentationProficiency with 3D Laser Scanners, GPS, drones, total stations and related equipment. Working knowledge of Trimble GPS and Trimble Total Stations is an assetProficiency with Microsoft Office SuiteA valid Vehicle Operator’s License and clean driving record is required for this positionExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsMotivation to engage wholeheartedly with the AOLS Articling Process with the end goal of becoming an Ontario Land Surveyor.Education and Experience
Eligibility to enter into articles with an Ontario Land Surveyor under the AOLS Articling Student Contract (requirements include CBEPS Certificate of Completion) - This may include a degree or diploma in Geomatics Engineering or Surveying from a recognized institution
