With a rich history spanning over 100 years, our client has cultivated a family-oriented, open, and collaborative culture with a global perspective and a focus on continuous growth.Position Overview:Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, you will be responsible for administering Health & Safety and Wellness programs, as well as coordinating company events for our client.Key Responsibilities:- Administer the Health and Safety Program in collaboration with the Human Resources Manager, Human Resources Coordinator, Plant Manager, and Health and Safety Committee.
- Manage the Hearing & Iso Prevention Program.
- Conduct new hire safety orientations.
- Handle WSIB claims, working closely with employees and managers to support early and safe return-to-work initiatives.
- Follow up on work-related accidents, incidents, and near misses, ensuring accurate reporting and maintaining a current Safety Cross.
- Coordinate annual fire drills across multiple locations and shifts, and document the outcomes.
- Keep Safety Data Sheets (SDS) up to date.
- Maintain Health & Safety Boards with all relevant policies, procedures, and forms readily available.
- Conduct monthly Health & Safety inspections and collaborate with the production team to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Communicate inspection results, and post reports on the Health & Safety Board.
- Coordinate and deliver Health & Safety-related training as needed, maintaining the company's training matrix.
- Provide updates on Health and Safety matters during quarterly meetings.
- Conduct monthly inspections of the first aid room and manage inventory.
- Develop and distribute monthly Safety Talks, supporting other Health & Safety initiatives.
- Assist in planning and executing company events, including communication meetings, summer events, holiday parties, and other wellness and employee engagement activities.
- Perform additional tasks as required.Professional Qualifications & Skills:- College degree in human resources, health and safety, or a related field.
- Familiarity with current Occupational Health and Safety legislation and regulations, acquired through education or experience.
- Ability to build and maintain strong work relationships at all organizational levels.
- Self-starter with a high level of initiative and integrity.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Adaptable to various tasks and projects, with a flexible approach to shifting priorities.
