Job Category: Technical ServicesJob Description:The Opportunity:WSP is currently seeking a BIM Co-op Student to join our dynamic Buildings Mechanical and Electrical Transportation Group in the GTA. This is an exciting opportunity for a student passionate about Building Information Modeling (BIM), Electrical and Lighting design, and design automation to gain hands-on experience in a collaborative and innovative environment.As a BIM Co-op Student, you will support the BIM team in 3D modeling and design tasks for transportation-related building projects. You will also assist in advancing WSP's corporate initiative toward full BIM adoption and design automation.Why choose WSP?

  • Assist in 3D modeling of mechanical and electrical systems including:
  • Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Systems in general;
  • Duct work, hydronic heating and cooling piping;
  • Plumbing including domestic water, Sanitary and Storm Systems;
  • Natural Gas piping for buildings and site services;
  • Power distribution, circuiting, grounding, and lighting protection
  • Lighting design and fixture selection
  • Fire Alarm Systems (FAS)
  • Support designers and engineers with system design and equipment selection
  • Prepare mechanical and electrical installation details and contribute to drawing packages
  • Collaborate with team members to develop BIM models for project submissions
  • Help maintain and apply corporate BIM standards, policies, and procedures
  • Participate in the development and testing of design automation tools
  • Coordinate with offshore design teams and contribute to efficient workflows
  • Stay informed on BIM trends and technologies, and share insights with the team
What you'll bring to WSP:
  • Currently enrolled in a BIM program, or Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Architectural Technology, or related post-secondary program
  • Familiarity with Revit, AutoCAD, and BIM360; experience with Dynamo or Python scripting is a plus
  • Strong interest in BIM technologies and design automation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Knowledge of electrical systems and lighting design is an asset
  • Experience with MicroStation or TTC Standards is considered an asset
