- Plan, schedule and roster transit services and initiate proposals for service modifications and optimization to improve customer service and operating efficiency
- Administer the work selection/sign up process
- Participate in the design and administration of surveys to compile background data on possible schedule changes, customer, and employee satisfaction and assist in the preparation of reports that would utilize the results of these surveys
- Analyze ridership count data and other information and determine priorities and recommendations for service improvements or reductions on existing routes
- Evaluate requests submitted under the project agreement and, where necessary, follow-up on requests with the appropriate staff
- Project resource requirements associated with each service level or service change, and track actual resource consumption relative to forecast
- Undertake and co-ordinate special projects as requested by the Engineering and Support Operations Manager
- Prepare reports on service changes or special services as well as research reports on more general planning matters.
- Co-ordinate input from other staff and perform the evaluation and analysis of service requests in order to prepare annual, quarterly, monthly, and daily performance reports. Respond to requests for planning-related information.
- Make recommendations with respect to service delivery and monthly service improvements on existing routes or reductions on existing routes
- Participating in and represent planning concerns at meetings, taskforces and conferences as required
- Reviewing and preparing various daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports as well as special reports related to incidents, notices or degraded operational performance
- Liaising with management/supervisory personnel to improve performance and ensure proper co-ordination of projects and activities
- Responsible for treating passengers and/or employees with respect and dignity and ensuring the needs of passengers or employees with disabilities are accommodated and/or addressed in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code, Access for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and related orders, regulations and policies and procedures
- Keeping aware and informed of industry activities, technological developments, government legislation, etc. pertinent to areas of responsibility
- Performing other related duties as assigned
- Annual salary of $68,000-$79,000

- You understand customer needs, including those customers who use transit as a primary means of personal travel and the role of transit services in the community
- Prior experience in a greenfield start-up of transit operations is considered an asset
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- 3-5 years of relevant planning experience in a similar operations representative role for a rail transit project of a similar scope
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and management skills
- Strong leadership, communication and negotiation skills
- Proven track record in change management within complex business environments
- Tactful approach when dealing with the wide variety of problems
