Your Opportunity:We are currently looking for Full Time Clinical Pediatric Assistants to join our Pediatric and NICU team at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital located in Grande Prairie, Alberta. The Grande Prairie Regional Hospital is a 250-bed acute care facility with a busy emergency department, ICU, NICU and specialty services in OBGYN, orthopedic surgery, general surgery, ophthalmology, ENT, urology, palliative care, pediatrics, and psychiatry as well as radiation therapy services. The City of Grande Prairie is an economically strong and culturally diverse large urban centre, with a population of 75,820 and catchment area population of about 250,000. Grande Prairie provides a wide choice of recreation, education, shopping and entertainment opportunities. Grande Prairie is a full-service urban centre with a Multiplex Recreational Centre, a Community College, numerous cultural events, alpine & cross-country skiing, mountain biking, camping and more. The Grande Prairie Regional Airport connects the region to the Calgary and Edmonton international airports with daily scheduled flights provided by Air Canada and WestJet. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.Description:As a Full Time, Pediatric Clinical Assistant, you will work under the direction of Pediatricians to provide assistance in the Pediatric and NICU wards as well as post-natal support. You will respond to emergent ER calls and follow all management plans as discussed with the supervisor attending high risk deliveries, neonatal resuscitation and airway management. Role: Initiate management of preterm babies 32 weeks and above in the NICU. Admission notes, orders and discharge summaries. Attend codes in pediatric ward & NICU. Attend deliveries. Night rounds for NICU and Pediatric ward. Initiate management of pediatric patients. First Responder to nursing calls from pediatric and NICU wards. First call for Pediatric services. In-house calls according to rotating working hours in contract to provide 24/7 coverage. Document care management performed on patients by yourself. Assist with or perform airway management. Collaborate effectively with all team members. Use critical thinking skills.

Required Qualifications:This is an alternate physician provider role in which the successful candidate will work with a limited medical license issued from the College of Physician and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA). Current BLS, PALS and NRP. Expected to hold training in Pediatrics and NICU. Should be comfortable in doing procedures like umbilical venous lines, endotracheal intubation, Lumbar puncture and needle thoracoscenteses, either independently or under direct supervision. Expected to be familiar with the mode of non-invasive ventilation.
