- Global Financial Firm located in Mississauga, ON has an immediate contract opportunity for an experienced Market Data Control Lead.
- This role is currently on a Hybrid Schedule with an expectation of being in the office weekly for 3 days depending on the team requirement.
- Reliable internet, computer, and Android or iPhone are required for remote access.
- Lead the end-to-end lifecycle of Data Controls for Critical Data Elements (CDEs), including assessment, requirements definition, design/build, testing, and transition to Business-as-Usual (BAU).
- Partner with Markets SMEs to run control assessments and ensure data is properly controlled at appropriate measurement points.
- Facilitate and monitor adherence to Data Quality dimensions, acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for data control requirements across various domains.
- Define clear business and regulatory requirements for new data controls and enhancements to existing controls and frameworks.
- Coordinate with Technology to address control gaps by providing recommendations and ensuring gaps are remediated.
- Partner with Control Owners and Business Stakeholders to manage data exceptions, including remediation planning and escalation processes.
- Engage Markets SMEs and Data Consumers to validate control effectiveness and ensure mitigation of risks.
- Provide inputs into the optimization of controls, recommending enhancements to existing Data Quality and control framework.
- 8-12 years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, or Risk/Controls functions within financial services or similarly regulated industry.
- Strong understanding of data governance principles, including CDE frameworks and governance, data controls, Data Quality practices and dimensions, and their application.
- Hands-on experience with CDE level data controls implementation, data cataloging, metadata management, and Data Quality monitoring/profiling tools (e.g., Collibra).
- Understanding of exception management processes and ability to interpret and escalate Data Quality or Governance issues.
- Strong SQL skills with the ability to read and write complex scripts for data analysis, anomaly detection, and validation of data quality and controls.
- Proven ability to proactively identify gaps, issues, and opportunities for improvement through independent assessments of processes, controls, and documentation.
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities and tasks in a contractor capacity with accountability for deliverables.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; must be articulate and persuasive with the judgment and authority to provide insightful commentary to senior stakeholders.
- Extensive experience in risk and control (First/Second Line) or relevant consulting within Markets or Financial Services.
- Good knowledge of data used in Markets processes (trade, market data, reference data), data governance, and lineage.
- Experience in control assessments, control testing, and/or implementation of risk mitigation actions.
- Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience, potentially Master’s degree.
