- Job Description
- Lead a design team during the execution and delivery of all aspects of substation civil designs for voltages up to 735 kV
- Manage design tasks and coordinate design progress within a multi-disciplinary project team
- Provide direct supervision and be a mentor to less experienced professionals
- Perform the structural design, including seismic design, analysis and detailing of steel, concrete, wood and masonry structures, including:
- Equipment Steel supports and foundations including piling, dead-man, anchoring system, and grillages.
- Prefab Control buildings details
- Underground cable trenches, ductbanks, manholes and vaults Perform the civil design, analysis and detailing for:
- Site preparation and development,
- Fencing arrangement plan and details
- Access roads and intersection design, plan & profile
- Water Management study including Site drainage, culverts and ditches
- Erosion and Sedimentation control plan
- Oil spill catchment and containment systems
- Fill embankments and retaining walls
- Prepare estimates and resource assigning for RFP and design changes
- Prepare technical reports, plans, and specifications, Scope of Work, and construction work package, and perform site and shop drawings reviews during design and construction
- Meet with clients, plan client needs, prepare proposals, letters of intent and establish budgets and timelines. Liaise with clients to check project progress, ensuring that their opinions and requests are taken into consideration
- Work closely with clients and provide construction supports to resolve all project issues, such as, but not limited to, technical requests, finalization, and budget requests.
- Carry out contractual follow-ups, draft amendments and monitor the financial evolution of contracts
- Profile
- 12+ years of experience related to substation civil / structural design. 3+ years Experience as a team lead, manager or project manager is an asset
- University Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
- Registered member of a Professional Engineering association in Canada
- Eligibility to be registered as a member of the EGBC
- 3+ Experience with designs for electric Utilities in Western Canada
- Profession of design programs such as: SAFI, S-Frame, STAAD, MFAD, LPile, Civil 3D
- Excellent oral and written communication in English. French an asset
- Construction management or site supervision experience is an asset
- Demonstrated skills in Project Management
