- Research and develop new asset pricing, valuation, and risk models for financial projections
- Maintain and update existing asset model libraries and provide technical expertise to internal and external model users
- Stay up to date on regulatory and economic changes that may impact modeling, investment strategies, and ALM
- Support the development of robust processes for ALM, hedging, strategic asset allocation, economic scenario generation, and financial reporting
- Leverage the asset and ALM framework to evaluate the financial impact of strategic asset allocation and hedging strategies and optimize the outcome
- Participate in the expansion of PathWise functionality as required or as requested by clients
- Support the development of models and processes for companies moving into PathWise
- Provide hands-on training for PathWise users
- Develop standalone training reference materials for PathWise users
- Identify shortfalls in company processes and propose improvements
- Troubleshoot issues as they arise during PathWise migrations, focusing on providing a strong initial user experience
- Participate in demonstrations to potential clients
- Develop models specific to client requirements
- Participate in industry, academic and internal research projects
- Develop and deliver presentations on emerging issues pertaining to the insurance industry and the financial services industry
- Attend industry and client conferences
- 5+ years of experience in asset modeling, investment, life insurance or pension industry in a quantitative actuarial role working within ALM/Investment/Modeling
- Experience/knowledge on modeling general account assets including fixed income securities, equities, private debt, structured assets (e.g., CLO), derivatives, and basic accounting of these products
- In-depth knowledge participating and index-linked insurance products, and the valuation and capital requirements for these products
- Familiarity with Monte Carlo simulations
- Experience with investment data and analytics platforms like Bloomberg, Intex, FactSet, and Moody’s
- Experience developing complex financial models in an object-oriented programming language (Python programming experience preferred)
- Member of Canadian Institute of Actuaries, Society of Actuaries, or Chartered Financial Analyst preferred
- Strong communication skills for heavy team and client interactions
