Reporting to the Mineral Resources and Modeling Superintendent, you will be part of the Mine Technical Services Department. The Senior Resource Geologist will be responsible for leading all stages of resource estimation for the Detour Lake mine. Working and collaborating with other technical specialists you will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
Execute 3D geological modelling (lithology, structure, mineralization, wireframes) for both the open pit mine and the underground projects using industry best practices
Update and optimize geostatistical analysis, interpolation, and resource estimation parameters.
Update and optimize resource block models for the project/operation
Collaborate with the open pit operation and underground project teams for resource reconciliation and declaration to ensure accurate reporting
Review reconciliation of grade control block models with resource block models to ensure consistency
Provide input in the preparation of weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports with full mine-to-mill reconciliation and annual mineral resource reconciliations
Review QAQC of exploration and operational data used for resource model updates
Support technical studies (PEA, PFS, FS) with mineral resource and model inputs
Collaborate with exploration, mine operations, and technical services groups (engineering, metallurgy, geotech, environment) to ensure a smooth transition of quality geological data, models, documentation and findings are shared across the business
Participate in innovation projects, applying the latest geostatistical and modelling methodologies.
Mentor and coach geologistsin 3D and resources modelling
Identify and drive opportunities for improving the resource estimation process and initiate positive change
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology
P. Geo designation
10-15 years’ experience in resources geology with preference in gold
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a supervisory capacity in an operating mine preferred
Experience in open pit and underground operations with a preference to large scale operations
Experience in mining software Knowledge of Leapfrog Geo, Datamine, Leapfrog Edge and Supervisor software
A detailed understanding of the efficient use of world-class geological and mining techniques and interpretation of a wide variety of geological data
Excellent computer and analytical skills
Demonstrated commitment to safety in the workplace
Good communication skills
Willingness to be involved in the training and development of young professionals
Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint
Your Work Schedule:
Schedule: 5/2 schedule (Monday to Friday) a combination of tele-working with presence at our offices in either Timmins, ON, Kirkland Lake, ON, Rouyn-Noranda, QC or Val-d’Or, QC. One site visit per month to our Detour Lake Mine will be required.
