- Greeting and assisting customers while anticipating their needs, taking orders and providing friendly, efficient service.
- Adhering to all Government regulations, laws and in-house policies on Responsible Alcohol Service regarding responsible service of alcohol.
- Checking ID to ensure guests are of legal age to purchase and consume alcoholic beverages.
- Monitoring guest consumption and signs of intoxication and intervening when necessary to prevent over consumption.
- Taking drink orders, including alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
- Preparing and pouring drinks accurately including specialty cocktails, mixed drinks, draught beer, packaged beer and ready to drink cocktails.
- Operating a point-of-sale system, processing transactions and collecting payments.
- Ensuring beverages are prepared and handled safely following hygiene and sanitation standards.
- Adhering to established procedures and policies for food & beverage preparation, credit/debit/cash and customer service.
- Responsible for opening and closing inventory and stocking of supplies and fridges.
- Maintain a clean, organized and stocked area, cleaning up spills and messes promptly.
- Additional tasks as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager
- Friendly, welcoming and able to interact with customers and co-workers in a positive manner.
- Clear and effective communication with customers and team members.
- Serve Right Certification and a minimum age of 19 to serve in the Province of Nova Scotia.
- Ability to use a point-of-sale (POS) system for order taking and payment processing.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; handling multiple tasks and working under pressure at times.
- Understanding proper food & beverage handling and hygiene practices.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team promoting a positive culture.
- Ability to follow directions.
- Capable of standing and walking for extended periods.
- Frequently lifting and carrying items such as bar supplies, ice, cases of product often and may be up to 50 lbs.
- Repetitive hand and arm movements and motions such as preparing beverage orders, entering orders into the point-of-sale system, restocking items.
- Slips, trips and falls; uneven surfaces, spilled liquids or tripping over equipment.
- Cuts and lacerations; working with sharp objects such as knives, corkscrews and blenders.
- Muscle strain and fatigue; lifting items, repetitive motions and prolonged standing.
- Exposure to cleaning agents may cause skin irritations or respiratory problems.
- Sanitizers can lead to skin irritation or accidental ingestion.
