Candidates must review the LEAP training manual and attend a required training session prior to teaching.Responsibilities/Accountabilities:Learning Engagement for Academic Purposes (LEAP 1001U) is a credit course that supports students in developing academic literacies such as time management, wellbeing, study strategies, and effective learning habits. The Teaching and Learning Centre invites applications from qualified individuals to serve as sessional instructors responsible for designing and delivering the academic coaching component of the course, including facilitating learning activities, guiding student skill development, and assessing progress. Note that this position is a 0.5 fractional sessional position.This position falls within the bargaining unit represented by the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) and will be subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between the University and PSAC. The collective agreement may be found on the Human Resources section of our website. Candidates will be required to certify that they are currently legally eligible to work in Canada for the duration of the contract.Qualifications:The successful candidate will demonstrate experience as the primary instructor of record for credit-bearing or formally assessed post-secondary courses in remedial, developmental, academic upgrading, or academic literacy contexts.Required Skills:
Applicants should demonstrate measurable impact on student persistence, retention, or academic skill development, and experience implementing structured academic literacy curricula aligned with institutional learning outcomes and student retention initiatives.
Education:
Applicants must hold a Master's degree in Education, Educational Psychology, Curriculum and Instruction, Assessment, Learning Sciences, or a closely related field focused on post-secondary teaching and learning; a doctorate is highly preferred.
Experience:
