Position Information:The Recreation Therapist located at the Wellness Centre will provide service to clients receiving care at the Wellness Centre under the Terms & Conditions outlined by the Ministry of Health for Homelessness and Addiction Recovery Treatment (HART) Hub care providers.The Recreation Therapist must be able to function independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team, working cooperatively with multiple service providers and community partners.The Recreation Therapist will follow Recovery Principles for assessment, intervention and evaluation of client leisure needs, goals and abilities. The Recreation Therapist will successfully develop therapeutic recreation service delivery methods, including interventions that maximize therapeutic gains while being meaningful, purposeful and sustainable.Qualifications:
University Degree in Recreation & Leisure Studies with Therapeutic Recreation focus or University Degree in Human Sciences or Services with a Post Graduate Diploma in Therapeutic Recreation
Current member of Therapeutic Recreation of Ontario (TRO)
Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training certification preferred
Trauma-Informed Care training certification preferred
5 years relevant mental health and addictions experience
Demonstrated ability to assess, plan and implement a personalized approach to service delivery within the guidelines of the Therapeutic Recreation Service Model in accordance with TRO standards of practice
Demonstrated ability to practice effectively in an inter-professional collaborative environment
Sound understanding of mental health and addictions
Working knowledge and experience with theories and principles of guiding modalities used in a mental health and addictions clinical practice settings
Working knowledge of virtual platforms (i.e. Microsoft Teams), and other database programs
Excellent communication, interpersonal, organization, problem-solving and innovation skills
Proven flexibility and high level of initiative
Demonstrated ability to work with and directly support personnel and volunteers with minimal supervision
Appreciation of resource utilization and comfortable working in a virtual environment
Organizational skill and demonstrated ability to handle and respect confidential information with fact and diplomacy are essential
Group facilitation, Hybrid/ Virtual Group facilitation experience are necessary
Excellent ability to maintain, monitor and report on data requirements
Demonstrated ability to deal congenially with a variety of people efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision
Organizational skills and demonstrated ability to handle and respect confidential information with fact and diplomacy are essential
Travelling may be required - possession of a valid Ontario Class “G” Driver's license and personal reliable vehicle
