Position SummaryACAD 100 - Academic Discourse: Writing, Research, and Learning StrategiesCourse Description:
This course provides first-year students with tools for successful communication across the disciplines by emphasizing elements of effective writing and academic research. Topics include rhetorical considerations for effective writing, process-oriented writing and revision, critical reading skills, approaches to group collaboration, research tools, bibliographies, academic integrity, and citation methods.
Position RequirementsSessional Lecturers must be willing to share with students the knowledge, experience and an appreciation of what research is at a post-secondary level. We are looking for Sessional Lecturers from a variety of disciplines who possess a PhD, or Master's degree, who have previously taught post-secondary courses.Because this course has a defined curriculum, instructors will be required to participate in regular team meetings to discuss their teaching experiences and student feedback. We are looking for Sessional Lecturers who enjoy working in a team setting and have a desire to provide regular, focused feedback to students through classroom discussions and a variety of oral and written assignments.
