The Senior Analyst will work closely with the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) team, the broader Anti-Money Laundering (AML) team and business partners within CIBC to understand root causes to issues and make recommendations to senior management to improve transaction monitoring processes. The Senior Analyst will leverage data and subject matter expertise to make recommendation on rules development and ongoing tuning through qualitative reviews and ad hoc analysis. As required, the Senior Analyst will coordinate resources to effectively tackle and address trends and patterns affecting the operational health of the EAML Program, especially as it pertains to alert and case conversion. With a focus on data analytics and trend identification, the incumbent will identify AML/ATF risk exposures and develop transaction monitoring recommendations and risk mitigation initiatives across EAML, to support training and operational processes and decisions. The Senior Analyst will be responsible for providing business support to major transformation and remediation initiatives. Furthermore, the Senior Analyst will support internal and external projects leading key deliverables.At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role.   • Subject matter expert - Support the design and implementation of processes to implement effective transaction monitoring rules.
  • Be an agent of change - You will be responsible for presenting recommendations to management on process improvements to support efficiency within the FIU including rules development and tuning opportunities to minimize false positives. You will execute continuous improvement activities for the FIU, identifying, analyzing and tracking process and control gaps and inefficiencies impacting investigative activities.
  • Support our leaders - Coordinate and aid the EAML Governance, Solutions Delivery and the FIU and Risk Analytics subject matter experts on initiatives as required. Draft presentations and recommendations to support senior management decisions.
  • Influence peers and senior management - Work with various support teams to ensure effective and timely implementation of innovative transaction monitoring initiatives including management of necessary change requests as appropriate. You will also represent the FIU in cross-functional projects, providing operational guidance on tuning and model optimization proposals.
Who you are
  • You have knowledge of AML regulations, practices and economic sanctions or similar knowledge and/or experience in Fraud, Strategy or related regulatory compliance. You understand various lines of businesses, products, services, delivery channels and new technologies to understand and identify respective risks. You can translate business requirements to technical specifications for technology to implement.
  • You have a degree/diploma in Business, Accounting, Finance, Law, Computer Science, Engineering or related field and/or equivalent years of experience; Lean Six Sigma and ACAMS (Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists) accreditations are nice to have.
  • You communicate effectively. You can articulate recommendation and build clear and concise presentations to help management make strategic and operational decisions.
  • You are proficient in the Microsoft Office suite, e.g. Excel, PowerPoint and Visio.
  • You are a problem solver. You possess solid judgment and problem-solving skills to provide input and advice to senior management for best compliance and risk management solutions.
