Job Description:Our downtown client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Finance to lead financial operations and accounting services for their respected organization based in Ottawa, Ontario. This role involves overseeing a skilled accounting team, collaborating with international partners, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and organizational standards. The ideal candidate will excel in strategic planning, financial management, and team leadership.Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic financial guidance to leadership teams, enabling informed decision-making and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Develop and manage comprehensive budgets, consolidate financial data, and deliver accurate forecasts for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Oversee cash flow management, fund transfers, and investment strategies while ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Establish and maintain robust internal controls, ensuring accuracy and compliance in all accounting operations.
  • Supervise the preparation of financial statements, coordinate audits, and ensure adherence to reporting standards.
  • Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering growth and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Collaborate with international and local treasurers, providing training and support to enhance financial capabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations, charitable organization requirements, and Canon Law, preparing necessary reports and filings.
  • Participate in committees and special projects, contributing to organizational strategies and initiatives.
  • Support the management of legacies, wills, and other financial matters as needed.
Requirements:Qualifications:
  • Professional Accounting Designation (CPA)
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience, including 5 years in a leadership capacity, preferably within the charitable or non-profit sectors.
  • Proven expertise in financial planning, budgeting, and investment management.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, mentor, and manage a diverse team.
  • Excellent analytical abilities, attention to detail, and strategic thinking.
  • Fluency in both French and English, with exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial software such as Sage 300, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Office.
  • A commitment to the values and mission of religious communities is considered an asset.
