- Lead a team of analysts and associates, guiding them in developing cost models using a driver-based approach at various levels of granularity.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to build cost variance analysis, establish a shared understanding of cost definitions and drivers, and monitor cost performance by measuring relevant cost drivers against actuals, forecasts and budgets. This will enhance visibility into resource consumption and identify opportunities to optimize resource allocation.
- Leverage data sources effectively and apply advanced analytics methods to gain insights into cost categories. This will help identify value creation opportunities to drive cost excellence.
- Review and organize the monthly, quarterly, and annual cost reporting for CPP Investments to support both internal reporting to the Senior Management Team, Audit Committee, and Board of Directors as well as the Annual Report.
- Promote continuous improvements in processes and cost reporting through automation and new technologies, while ensuring integrity and accuracy of the outputs.
- Support an efficient business planning process that accommodates business priorities, fund guidance, and other strategic priorities, grounded by sound operational cost objectives.
- Demonstrated experience (8+ years) in preparing budget, forecasts, and ex-post cost variance analysis.
- Strong knowledge of asset management companies or financial institutions with a commercial approach to decision-making.
- Exemplify CPP Investments Guiding Principles of integrity, partnership and high performance.
- Solid problem-solving skills with experience in automation tools and planning software (e.g., Tableau, Think-cell, Oracle Enterprise Performance Management) to improve the effectiveness of processes.
- Demonstrate resilience in the face of change and can effectively manage competing demands. Effective delegation and supervision of specific output.
- Proven track record in managing and mentoring staff.
- Apply critical thinking to resolve operational or cross-departmental issues and deliver insight and recommendations guided by defined cost objectives. Leads self and others to solve broadly defined problems by considering impact beyond own team.
- CPA, CFA or MBA would be an asset
