Contract Length: 6 Months (Extension or FTE Conversion Possible)
Hours: 9 AM–5 PM EST
Pay: T4 $137/hr CAD / IC: $158/hr CADRESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend services supporting real-time pricing, quoting, and trade execution.
- Build and enhance RFQ (Request for Quote) lifecycle automation and dealer-side quoting infrastructure.
- Develop event-driven architectures integrating trading interfaces (e.g., OpenFin) and internal risk or pricing engines.
- Optimize systems for low latency, scalability, resiliency, and fault tolerance in production trading environments.
- Implement robust testing frameworks to ensure system stability and reliability under high-volume conditions.
- Collaborate with traders, product teams, and technology partners to translate complex trading workflows into scalable technical solutions.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to team members, contributing to the growth of a high-performing engineering team.
- Participate in performance tuning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of mission-critical systems.
- 5+ years of progressive software development experience, with a strong focus on Java.
- Proven experience building backend systems for front-office trading environments.
- Strong understanding of Capital Markets, specifically Fixed Income products and dealer workflows.
- Hands-on experience with multi-threading, concurrency, and event-driven system design.
- Experience working with real-time market data and integrating external data sources.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to break down complex workflows into scalable solutions.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work directly with traders and business stakeholders.
- Familiarity with SDLC methodologies (Agile and/or Waterfall).
- Experience building or contributing to RFQ engines, quoting platforms, or electronic trading systems.
- Knowledge of trading protocols such as FIX and integrations with platforms like Bloomberg, Tradeweb, or MarketAxess.
- Experience with time-series databases and high-throughput data processing systems.
- Understanding of U.S. and Canadian Fixed Income market structures and conventions.
- Experience in large enterprise or regulated financial institutions.
- Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or a related discipline.
