Avigilon, a Motorola Solutions company, designs, develops, and manufactures advanced AI, video analytics, network video management software and hardware, surveillance cameras, and access control solutions that help change the way people interact with their security systems.Job DescriptionAs an Imaging Specialist, you will understand camera image quality performance metrics and develop a robust automation platform to support benchmarking of new features, increase image quality test coverage, and develop imaging algorithms for various camera products.The successful candidate will work with a team of imaging specialists and collaborate with optical, mechanical, electrical, and firmware teams to design imaging algorithms, perform image quality tests and analyses, and identify the root cause of camera design defects.Responsibilities include:
  • Tuning camera image quality on various CMOS sensors and ISP platforms
  • Developing and carrying out image quality evaluation methods, from setting up lab measurements all the way to field testing
  • Developing applications and/or scripts to assist in quantitative evaluation and tuning
  • Applying problem solving skills and experience to identify issues and improving image quality
  • Applying engineering principles to design and implement algorithms for controlling image acquisition & tuning parameters
  • Measuring & validating critical imaging parameters
  • Reviewing Marketing and Product Requirements Document during feasibility and development
  • Providing mentorship and image quality training to the team
Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of digital imaging, color science, video coding and photography experience
  • Must be detail-oriented, able to work independently, and enjoy photography
  • Experience with ISP algorithms and designs, AWB, AE, AF and HDR/WDR algorithms
  • Experience with image quality evaluation tools (e.g. Imatest, DxOMark) & tuning equipment
  • Strong design and programming skills in languages such as C, C++, Python, Matlab, etc.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline
This position is based in Vancouver, BC and the candidate must reside in the Greater Vancouver Area as you will be required to go into the office on a hybrid work schedule.The base salary for this position in British Columbia is 85,000 - 107,000 CAD depending on experience.Motorola Solutions is building talent pipelines to meet future hiring demands.
