Join us.Job DescriptionAECOM is currently seeking an experienced intermediate to senior Construction Inspector to support our Transportation business line in the Calgary office. This position offers the opportunity to work on large, unique, and complex transportation projects across Central and Southern Alberta, as well as neighboring provinces and territories.This is a high-travel role with a strong likelihood of working outside the Calgary area. Depending on the project location, candidates may either commute daily or be required to stay in hotel accommodations for extended periods.The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:Monitor the quality of work done by contractors constructing rural and urban transportation projects ranging from rehabilitation to large capital assignmentsInspect the quality of materials used on-site and determine compliance with specificationsMonitor contractor activities including safety, environmental, and traffic managementAct as a central liaison between AECOM, clients, and contractors while coordinating with the AECOM project managerContract administration - Review RFIs, contractor submittals, NCRs, Change Orders, and conduct bi-weekly construction meetingsPrepare and submit weekly client reportsTrack and document monthly pay quantities to support contractor progress paymentsPrepare final detail summaries, including quantity summaries and reportingCoordinate surveying, materials testing, and scale/checker activitiesMonitor deadlines, oversee and coordinate project testing, and work with the ContractorCommunicate major issues that affect cost/scope to the Project EngineerReview procedures with project designers and contractors to ensure compliance with project plans and specificationsMonitor conformance to quality, performance, specifications, and/or code requirements by performing inspection dutiesConduct daily field inspections, maintain inspection records, and review inspection reports from other team membersParticipate in punch list inspections and warranty repairsSupport of out-of-town projects may be requiredQualificationsMinimum Requirements:Technical Diploma + 6 years of relevant experience or equivalent education and experienceValid driver's licence and ability to travel independently to project sites not accessible by public transit. Access to a personal vehicle is requiredAvailability to travel and work outside of Calgary for extended periods as requiredPreferred Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline (Civil, Construction, etc.)7+ years of roadway construction inspection and supervision experienceP.Eng., CET, or other applicable certifications considered an assetField experience in transportation construction for Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors and/or City of Calgary preferredStrong organizational and record-keeping skills to track issues, correspondence, and quantities; proficiency with Microsoft OfficeExcellent written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skillsAdditional InformationSponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this positionAbout AECOMAECOM is proud to offer comprehensive benefits to meet the diverse needs of our employees.
