Please note this is an onsite position - eligible candidates must be able to reliably commute to our Corporate Office in Vittoria, ON and have a valid G License for this position.With the continued growth in the industry, Scotlynn is currently hiring a Field Manager at our office in Vittoria, ON. This role is for an experienced agriculture professional seeking growth opportunities and supervisory responsibilities while assisting in the maintenance of over 7,000 acres of farmland – including pumpkins, asparagus, sweet corn, watermelon, cantaloupe, ginseng and other cash crops.ABOUT USScotlynn is a multinational produce grower and transportation provider specializing in time-sensitive refrigerated products. THE ROLEThe Field Manager is responsible for planning crop planting and harvesting schedules, planning equipment maintenance, soil testing, pesticide spraying, and assisting with harvest reports. They will oversee the functions and schedules of the farm staff, ensuring that handling and packaging of produce meets quality standards and industry regulations.ABOUT YOUSuccessful Scotlynn Candidates Have:
  • Extensive previous experience in the produce industry is required working with commodities such as sweetcorn, watermelon, pumpkins, asparagus, and ginseng
  • Knowledge of farm equipment and proper maintenance is required
  • Pesticide License is required
  • Previous experience in a managerial role is preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) in English; ability to communication verbally in Spanish is an asset
  • Must be able to work independently and in a team setting
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills
HOW YOU’LL SUCCEED WITH SCOTLYNN
  • Preparing plans and schedules for planting and harvesting and ensuring staff understands expectations
  • Visiting the different divisions to inspect crops, harvesting procedure, perform tests on soil and water, and conduct pesticide spray and crop protection methods
  • Scheduling repairs, maintenance, and replacement of equipment and machinery
  • Ensure compliance with all Standard Operating Procedures pertaining to harvesting, packing, storing, and shipping of fresh produce
  • Ensure compliance with CFIA and USDA policies and procedures
