- Job Description
- Engineering site inspection on municipal construction projects for quality control and adherence with applicable provincial standards, engineering design and technical specifications.
- Document construction site activities by keeping a detailed daily diary, taking photos, performing survey checks, and recording as-built conditions.
- Identify and monitor deficiencies.
- Provide problem resolution/field solutions with respect to unforeseen construction issues.
- Attend and participate in construction progress meetings.
- Review and comment on construction progress payment certificates and quotations.
- Arrange on-site geotechnical investigations and material testing for concrete, granular materials and asphalt.
- Coordinate with Engineering for specialist inspections.
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act on construction sites with authority to issue stop work orders; ensure proper Ministry and project procedures are followed to ensure public/pedestrian safety.
- Liaise with clients, regulatory inspectors, various utility companies, residents, and other stakeholders as required.
- Undertake site inspection duties as required.
- Assist with preparation of contract documents and specifications.
- Profile
- 5 years or more of related experience in linear infrastructure and road reconstruction.
- Strong technical knowledge of micro tunnelling and other trenchless technologies.
- Positive attitude with superior interpersonal skills.
- Effective communicator possessing demonstrated skills in dealing with other staff, contractors, and the public, in matters arising from construction projects.
- MTO Class 'G' driver's license in good standing and access to a personnel vehicle.
- Possess working knowledge of the Occupation Health and Safety Act and its Regulations, and Ontario Provincial Standards and Specifications (OPSS) for Municipal projects.
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must be certified or eligible to be certified by either OACETT or PEO.
- Knowledge of working with Builterra or Procore (an asset)
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (an asset)
