Key elements of this role include:As Senior Manager, Capital Accounting your responsibilities will include:
- Leadership of the cross functional Capital Accounting team
- Oversight and responsibility for the Company’s monthly Capital Accounting financial statement results, including the internal SOX controls related to Capital Accounting
- Oversight and responsibility for the annual financial budget and forecast for NS Power’s capital investment program, which includes supporting long-term financial forecasting for the Company’s capital investment program and associated Regulatory processes
- Oversight and responsibility for the financial components of Capital regulatory filings, including review of NS Power’s Annual Capital Expenditure Plan, individual Capital projects, and technical Capital regulatory accounting filings
- Working with various cross-functional teams to achieve shared objectives while maintaining effective financial controls
- Developing and maintaining effective relationships with business partners and cross-functional teams across the organization
- Providing ongoing guidance and leadership to all individuals responsible for aspects of capital project accounting across the organization
- Supporting the on-going development of an inclusive culture within Finance and across NS Power.
- Undergraduate degree in business, finance or accounting and a CPA designation
- Minimum of eight years in an accounting and/ or finance role, with a minimum of three years in a leadership role
- Expert knowledge of technical accounting concepts as well as a broad understanding of enterprise financial risk, corporate governance, and process and control design
- Experience with review of detailed analytical work and complex financial models, possessing strong quantitative skills and Excel skills
- Proven ability to lead a team of dedicated financial professionals to deliver their maximum performance in a rapidly changing and fast paced environment
- Strong communication, analytical and decision-making skills
- Ability to work inclusively with various individuals to achieve shared objectives and maintain effective business relationships
- Experience in a regulated utility will be considered an asset.
