Unmatched networking, fantastic content, top performers, and industry trailblazers mean that Canadian Real Estate Forums events are the “must-attend” events of the year.Job DescriptionThe role of Conference Producer offers an experienced and commercially astute individual the opportunity to take the lead in determining strategy and shaping the future direction of large-scale industry leading events. This involves researching content, building relationships with key industry executives, designing compelling agendas, guiding content strategy to create a buzz about the conference and leveraging networks to drive the commercial success of events.Working as part of a strong and experienced Canadian Real Estate Forums team, the Conference Producer is a motivated, resourceful and responsible individual who relishes the challenge and autonomy of creating world-class programs from concept to delivery, and who is proactive, highly organised, outgoing, professional and has excellent communication skills.Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyse the industry and past conferences to determine market opportunities
  • Work with the Head of Product, Process and Delivery to set the event's strategy for the year
  • Research the conference programs by contacting a complete cross section of the target market through phone, desk research and meetings to determine customer requirements
  • Creating and establishing a network of key informants in the market to act as a resource for speaker recruitment, programming suggestions and potential promotion of the event
  • Create and run an advisory board for each event
  • Identify strengths and weaknesses of competitors' events through websites, brochures and speaking to key executives that attend their events
  • Create compelling, commercially-driven, high value, current and differentiated programs: content positioning, speaker representation and delivery are at the core of the overall strategy, and you will ensure your respective events are representative, in a geographic, experiential and sectorial basis across the complete real estate industry
  • Identify and contact potential speakers and encourage them to join the speaker faculty
  • Source special guest speakers from outside the industry/country and negotiate speaker fees and expenses and stay within guidelines set down for the event
  • Work with the marketing team to:
  • Design a compelling content-based marketing campaign
  • Write benefit driven promotional copy for websites and marketing pieces
  • Ensure they are targeting the right market and sourcing appropriate media partners
  • Design and implement promotional campaigns via LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook.
  • Work with the chairperson(s), speakers and sponsors to raise the profile of the event
  • Working with Sponsorship to find leads and identify additional revenue opportunities
  • Work with operations to ensure budgets are accurate and the event runs smoothly on the day
  • Conduct research at the event to identify new ideas for existing and new events
  • Produce the pre and post conference reports
QualificationsExperience Required:
  • 1-2 years of experience in Conference Production experience
  • Candidates with 1-2 years of experience working in the Commercial Real Estate industry with an interest in conference production are encouraged to apply
  • Thinking creatively, innovating and shaping a product around customer needs
  • Proven research skills using a number of information sources including cold calls
  • Commercial awareness - the ability to understand market dynamics and leverage networks to monetize the program
  • Remarkable copywriting skills to create compelling conference agendas
  • Project and time management skills with an ability to multi-task and attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills and the ability to network with senior industry figures
  • Knowledgeable about commercial real estate, institutional investors, REITs, private equity and debt - understanding of market dynamics, trends, key players and terminology used
  • Successful applicants are likely to possess a university degree (or equivalent)
  • Bilingual English/French would be an asset
