Job Category: EngineeringDegree Level: Bachelor's DegreeJob Description:The Configuration & Data Management Manager, Engineering is responsible for the leadership and development of a team within Engineering Services to support ongoing projects under the matrix organization structure for new vessels constructed by Seaspan Shipyards, and will collaborate closely with stakeholders across VSY as well as external subcontractors to oversee and enforce robust PLM configuration management controls.Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 2 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.What you'll do
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce the Configuration Management Plan and related policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Oversee the release, storage, and distribution of controlled technical data (drawings, models, specifications, BoMs, documents).
  • Plan and conduct configuration audits (FCAs/PCAs) and support internal and external compliance audits.
  • Administer and maintain Configuration Management tools and integrated systems (e.g., PLM, CAD, Jira) to ensure data integrity and appropriate access control.
  • Drive continuous improvement of Configuration Management and Change workflows, tools, metrics, and documentation.
  • Support digital transformation initiatives relating to PLM, data governance, and configuration control (PLM Product Owner).
  • Build, develop, and manage team members, ensuring appropriate staffing, resource allocation, coaching, and performance management within a matrix organization.
  • Develop Statements of Work (SOW), Master Product Lists (MPL) and labor estimates for proposals, bids, and project planning.
  • Develop and maintain a discipline resourcing plan and lead on any required recruitment activities.
  • Support the Senior Manager with Control Account Manager (CAM) duties for team members within their department and any subcontracted scopes, responsible for cost and schedule adherence across all programs.
  • Develop and implement governance processes that comply with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC) requirements and Data Governance legislation.
  • Advance training and development plans and paths for Configuration management specialists as well as actively address performance issues within the teams.
  • Supports VSY Configuration Management in line with International Standards (EIA-649C) and VSY Configuration & Data Management Plan.
  • Develop, implement, and improve engineering user tools that best support efficient design and build practices.
  • Drive improved quality and conduct regular Configuration Managements Audits.
  • Provide technical and execution support to the Project Engineering Manager or Project Chief Engineer as required.
What you'll bring
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant Engineering discipline or equivalent.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience of design/data management and leadership experience in a shipyard or marine design firm.
  • Experience of supplier technical management.
  • Experience of Earned Value Management (EVM).
  • Experience of Product Lifecycle Management tools (ARAS preferred but not essential).
  • Knowledge of Configuration standard methodologies (EIA-649 Configuration Management and ISO 10007).
  • Experience in production, production engineering and/or project management is considered an asset.
  • Strong leadership and management capabilities, with experience leading multidisciplinary teams.
  • In-depth understanding of shipbuilding design, engineering, and production processes.
  • Strong Technical, analytical and change management skills.
  • Expert knowledge of Configuration Management principles, methods, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated initiative, judgement, and integrity in decision-making.
  • Proficient computer skills including Word/Excel/PowerPoint.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, solve complex problems, and work with limited direction.
  • Must hold or be eligible to attain Reliability Security Clearance or a higher level of Security Clearance as required.

The estimated salary for this position is $143,100 - $174,900. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate's skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company's sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.#LI-MT1 #LI-ONSITE
