Employment Opportunity No.: 25.107Closing date: August 31, 2025The research assistant will work with faculty in the School of Indigenous Governance on program development related to land guardians. The primary focus of this position will be to support faculty and assist with project management and coordination, community engagement, minute taking, research and report writing. This position will also liaise with other faculty and staff at Yukon University. Travel to Yukon communities will be an important part of this position. Work hours can be flexible but will be approximately 27.5 hours a week (based on mutual agreement between supervisor and researcher).Duties:
- Organizing and attending community meetings
- Taking minutes
- Transcribing interview data
- Assisting faculty in data collection and analysis
- Conducting thematic analysis of data
- Writing reports
- Presenting data to various community and academic audiences
- Tracking budgets
- Liaising with various First Nation governments and academic institutions
- Liaising with Indigenous Governance Chair and other YukonU staff and faculty to help with academic processes and requirements related to program development
- Relevant university or college education with 2 years research experience or an appropriate combination of education and work experience
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in written and oral form
- Experience in use of Microsoft office
- Experience in community engagement in a First Nations' context Ability to manage multiple tasks and timelines
- Experience reviewing and summarizing literature
- Experience with minute taking and report writing
- Basic understanding of ethics and confidentiality
